So, I started developing a sore throat yesterday. Just changed from Zithro to Biaxin so maybe I wasn't taking the equivalent amount of Biaxin. I don't know. Still have the sore throat and when I checked it out this morning with a flashlight I have canker sores on my tonsils and in my throat. Has anyone had this? Any ideas about why?

Sounds more like strep to me but if you are on abx then that might not be it.

My daughter gets canker sores all the time but they are on her gums where her cheek meets her gums.

I have never heard of cankersores on tonsils..but anything is possible.

Also...is canker sores associated with lyme?

I get canker/cold sores all the time. Usually on lips and upper mouth or on gums.

I have had canker sores since a young girl, my Mother has them too. They rarely occured until the lyme became full blown.

I was told they were called Herpes Stomatitis. A Dr told me this.

I use my canker sores to guide me, when they are out, in my mouth, my system is down, my immune system.

I can use them to guide me, if a treatment is not working or if it is too strong.

If they remain too long in my mouth, then the treatment I am on is not working, or I have gotten a flu/cold,

SOMETHING is wrong if the canker sores are with me too long.

This is what works for me.

They can be yeast or a virus like herpes. I had a really bad canker sore on the back of my throat a couple years ago when I stopped taking an anti-viral. It went away as soon as I started it again.

I've had canker sores all the way down my throat before and when I first went on abx I got them repeatedly.

Canker sores can be caused by many things inclulding nutritional defeciencies, systemic disease, allergies etc..

Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1). Cold sores are different than canker sores in that cold sores are highly contagious blisters that usually form on the outside of the mouth and on the gums.

I've done some research but can't post the link here because my website has some advertising on it. PM me if you want to see the whole article.
