My wisdom teeth have been coming in for some time. Now they are starting to really bother me and I am thinking about having them removed.

I have been treating my lyme for 4 months but have not seen any improvement and have had it for 14-16 years, so its not in remission or even weakened right now.

I am concerned that the Lyme might interfere with the surgery.

Has anyone had complications with dental surgery and Lyme Disease?

[confused]

I had mine taken out when I had full blown Lyme, but before the diagnosis. It was no problem at all. I got dry socket, but I blame that on talking too much post surgery.

Lyme reared its ugly head 1 week after all of my wisdom teeth were emergently removed. It's my belief that the surgery was the trigger the bugs needed to "activate". (I was bit 5 months prior to the dental procedure)

Yeah...a lot of people feel that surgery causes

their illness to worsen. However, I had mine out

this August without any problems.I don't know what

I'm infected with, though, and I've only been ill

since May.

My guess is that you'll be fine as long as you don't

let them give you steroids or ketamine.

the answer is this.
if you need surgery and they need to come out due to infection, then they MUST BE REMOVED.
they must currettage the primordial sac that surounds the wisdom tooth in the bone.
the tooth develops in a sac, just like an egg.
when it erupts the sac opens where the tooth is in the mouth, the rest of the sac can get infection or if left in the bone, can later develop into a residual cyst and even cancer.
the primordial cyst is made up of mesechimal cells, which if removed, can be used the same as stem cells

they are undifferentiated cells that can literally be grown into any cells in the body.

so after all this yes if they hurt and are getting infected.
premed with clidamycin 150 mg tid 2 days before and 5 days after to control infection.

DO NOT HAVE THEM REMOVED UNTIL THE INFECTION IS UNDER CONTROL!!!!!!!!

There is no infection. My jaw is just sore. There is not much room on my jaw for my teeth let alone new teeth coming in.
Its just soreness on the 2 top ones. No pain on the bottom.

There are several threads about wisdom teeth and teeth in general. Do a search.

The one I linked above contains an article by Dr. Christopher Hussar, DDS etc who has extracted wisdom teeth from many, many people diagnosed with Lyme starting in the early 1990's until recently when he retired from oral surgery. In fact, he diagnosed many of them when few others knew or thought about Lyme.

Good luck and take care.

Dry socket is really no big deal. You go back to the oral surgeon and they put a packing on the wound that actually tastes like Indian spices. I remember a strong clove taste. It really reduces the pain.

It hurts, but it's easy to address. My case was a bit more difficult because I was using voice recognition software since I couldn't use my hands at that time.
