I thought maybe I heard this before, but does Lyme cause high cholesterol levels?
I'm only 23 years old and have very high cholesterol levels. It may be inherited for me, but I doubt it at such a young age. Plus, I'm vegan so I don't even consume anything with cholesterol, so I don't put any extra cholesterol in my body.
Just wondering if Lyme causes high cholesterol levels?
Thanks!

Well, I have high cholesterol. For years it was borderline, but the older I get the higher it goes.
But my whole family has it dating back generations. My brother, who doesn't have any TBD's has been on meds and a special diet for it since he was a teen for HUGE numbers. My father, mother, grandmother, her family...all high...many have had to use diet and meds to control it. There are other factors, too, of course. Hypothyroidism can cause it. Genetics can cause it. Lots of things can cause it. People are surprised when they seem someone coming back from being emaciated with high cholesterol. Even gaining a few pounds, that makes me look healthier and feel healthier, raises my LDL.
Exercize plays a part. If you have a cholestoral problem, having another disease that makes one engage in a sendentary lifestyle does not help at all. Mine is always better when I force myself to get out and walk at least once or twice a week.
Once I finally get all my meds situated, I will be starting the Welchol. First time I have ever been medicated for it, but the LLMD feels it will both control the cholesterol and help with toxin detox. We'll see.

I'm not prying, but some AMA, AHA docs are telling people that 230 is 'high'.
My total cholesterol is around 250.
My HDL (good cholesterol) is high also though.

Exercise for me doesn't seem to help whatsoever. Yes, I'm pretty much sedentary now that I'm ill, but even before I was ill when I'd exercise, go to the gym, do lots of cardio and weight lifting usually up to two hours a DAY, my cholesterol was the same as it is now. Extremely high. Exercise didn't seem to help me.

If it's heriditary, then it can be high at a very young age. My mother has always had high cholesterol, but most of it is driven by the HDL.
