Vaccines are made out of the pathogen that causes the disease. Getting a flu vaccinne would be putting yourself at more risk for contracting th flu since people with Lyme have weakened immune systems. I would stay away.

i have diabetes 2;; YES, getting mine this saturday.
i'll take my chances since 4 yr. go almost died from flu/cold and NO being ale to breathe. never agains..

Not even if you paid me $5 mill would I ever get a flu shot again. The first (and last) one I ever got just about killed me.

one flue shot put me over the edge and i've never really recovered.
not in a million years would i ever get another one. i'd rather take my chances with the flu.

I have a reaction every time I get one, but it is NEVER as bad as when I would continually get the flu itself.
I wished I could die every time I got the flu. And that was many, many times a year. One little flu shot and somewhat sick from the shot, was nothing in comparison.

I see that most of those that posted here are against getting a flu shot for themselves.
I got pretty sick the last time I got a flu shot about 5 years ago,
before this last dx (Masters Disease). My LLMD that I now see wants me to get a flu shot.
So now, I feel like a real fence-sitter!!

But IF you have asthma, think twice about NOT getting the flu shot. It could be devastating.

I am a healthcare worker tho(elderly/nursing home) and i am exposed to flu as well as all other kinds of stuff. I would think the flu shot would be needed for me. I have never had a problem with the shot before. If my immune system is weak, then wont i be more susceptible to getting actual flu and being unable to fight it??

I got mine last weekend. Got a little sick later in the week, then better.
I specifically asked my LLMD about it and he said to do it. He said that many of his patients have their Lyme symptoms improve after teh shot. It is a way to kick up your immune system. Expect to feel it afterwards, but re-setting your immune system with live virus flu-mist may help in the long run. It has for me.

You are correct Kath. And IF you don't do it for yourself,please do it for your patients so you don't drag it to them. They are old and can't fight that stuff very well.
People who say that they didn't get the flu due to getting the flu shot... how can you possibly prove that?

I also posed the question to Snopes.com, and they stated it was undetermined IF the flu vaccines were a problem.
As far as "proving" that we did NOT get the flu after taking the vaccine. How about IF a person CHRONICALLY gets the flu MANY times EVERY year without the vaccine? And then doesn't get it WITH the vaccine? IF that is NOT good enough for you, make your OWN choices like we ALL have to anyway. Or at least should!
