Been on Doxy for almost 8 weeks. Still having chest and back pains. Doc says we may have to change tracks. Recommends Zithromax. Anyone tried this?

Yes, I have been on Zithromax over 4 years, I love it, it has worked good for me.

Zithromax( Azithromycin) worked very well for me also. I took it for around two months and it, coupled with a few other meds, seemed to do the trick. This was after taking dozy for two years.
If you check Dr. B's guidelines (http://www.lymenet.org/drbguide200509.pdf) he states that has ``Overall(Azithromycin),has poor results when administered orally'', which is puzzling because it worked so well for me. He much prefers Biaxin (Clarithromycin) as his oral drug of choice for Lyme and I believe that most docs do too. Both Zithromax and Biaxin are from the same class of drugs called macrolide antibiotics.
I have heard from other sources that Zithromax is a good drug for co-infections. I had always been seronegative so perhaps I did not have Lyme but co-infections, which, I can only surmise, is why Zithromax worked so well for me so well. Like anything with this crazy disease, it is a trial and error process. good luck

I too am on Zith. My very very first symptom that got bad enough that I went to a doctor for was chest pain that went into my left shoulder and left ribs.
I say first symptom since the aches and pains I just chalked up to getting prematurely old. But that chest pain was horrid. Best I can tell you is that my LLMD always says you need to find "the right drug for the right bug", so I'm sure they will switch you around on various ones and see how you respond.
But I can say from first hand experience... the chest pain really does ease up with treatment so you are definitely on the right path.
