So I have decided to take a break from the

antibiotics. I have been on them straight for 3

years. I am still far far from being well but

my stomach is a mess. So I decided to give it a

rest for awhile. I am scarred my lyme will come

back even stronger. How many of you have done

this and what are your experiences. I have to

do it and it feels like the right time. I need

to find out why my stomach is so messed up.

Just worrying I guess.

Thanks in advance for your input!!

I start getting sicker within days of going off abx. For me I think the speed of getting sicker is probaly due to the fact I have babs.

- but this is just my expereince.

Have you considered bicillin injections?

Please find a doctor who understands Leaky Gut Syndrome. You most probably have this and it is sabotaging your efforts to get well. A doctor who is a member of CAM is a great place to start.

Also check for H. Pylori. It took 2 months of ammoxy 3000mg and Biaxin 500mg daily to put me into full remission. Seems the H. Pylori was preventing my gut from healing.

Many of our symptoms that we attribute to lyme are really something else. According to a study by Yale, 70% of the immune system lies in the gut.

Most people with chronic illness have a damaged gut.

I am with Azure Wish in that IM Bicillin sounds like a very good possibiity for your situation- you don't have to deal with GI issues and it's only one shot a week*)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My stomach is finally getting better with taking digestive enzymes at EVERY meal, and L-glutamine. I take DGL chewable licorice 2x day in between meals. A holistic MD recommended this to me..also cut out gluten, as it is hard to digest.

My stomach pain is WAY better.

I agree with what some have said here.

My stomach was absolutely annihilated after dissemination of LD caused from cortisone shots. I couldn't eat and dropped 20 pounds overnight and looked like death.

H.pylori testing was negative, I thought I had Candida. Thankfully my LLMD just treated me for H.pylori, Nexium 40 mg in the morning, 500 mg Biaxin w/1000 mg Amoxi twice per day. OMG - what a difference.

I also now take 2 probiotics equalling 40 billion CFU (saccharomyces boulardii & Natures way Primadophilus Optima)and my stomach now is the best part of me.

I am tired of orals, I do worry they could be causing damage without symptoms, so I have recently started Bicillin and am totally happy w/treatment.

Don't trust any H.pylori testing the testing is unreliable. I agree - try bicillin shots after you do a couple of months of H.pylori treatment. I would also get on good probiotics, your LLMD can likely help you choose which ones might be best for you.

Take care.
