Well, I have 1 day left on my 2 month course of antibiotics. In many respects I feel better, but in some the same...or "different". I dont know if I really want to go ahead and get on more abx or just see how I do. I have read here almost daily, and to be honest, it seems like an uphill climb. I have pain and discomfort, but consider myself lucky that i am very functional and it is not debilitating.
Today I bought 200mg co Q 10 and glucosimine and condriotin. It was expensive and I really could not afford it, but I have heard so much and am hoping it makes a difference in how i feel.
My soles are not sore anymore, just ankle and knee discomfort(but livable) and my legs ache alot and i have muscle twitching etc. Also, it seems like my eyes are really getting bad and fast. Glasses help alot.
Does anyone have any words of encouragement?

It is not suggested that you stop treatment until you have been symptom-FREE for at least 2 months. You're walking on thin ice here!

Kath,

No one has the exact right answer. Not us. Not the doctors.

For most, longterm abx is the cheapest route because of insurance.

For me, I did not want endless rounds of toxic drugs. I have worked with a wonderful doctor who treated me from a perspective of "let's supply your body with the nutrients it is lacking, let's support the liver by IV's of glutathione which is natural to the body and aids in detoxification". By supporting and strengthening the body, it can deal with the bugs"

This approach was SO SUCCESSFUL for me. It gave me back my life. But it was not cheap and not always covered by insurance. Tests and office visits were covered, but IV's and supplements were not. BTW, this doctor sold no supplements. He did recommend which brands as he had investigated the companies. I purchased the brands from wherever I chose.

It felt very good for me mentally to know I was not damaging my body during my recovery.

In May 07, I was bit again and quickly went down. Since this was a new infection, I ran to a more traditional ILADS LLMD who I knew would administer drugs.

How surprised and pleased I was to hear her P.A. tell me that it has been this doctor's experience that until we heal the gut and clear the body of toxins, there is not much good in going after the lyme. It was the P.A.s turn to be surprised and pleased when she heard all I had been doing until now.

New bloodtests revealed babesia, H.Pylori, QFever and EBV. I believe the babs was new as I had not had any babs symptoms prior. The H. Pylori I first had in spring 2004 and in fact, in April 07, I felt the HP was back and asked a local doctor for PrevPac which is standard HP treatment. He obliged. I was shocked to hear that 2 mths later I still had a heavy infestation. LLMD said 2 weeks of PrevPac is not enough. QFever is contracted when you are around pregnant livestock. I just bred my mare (female horse) this spring, so guess thats where the QF came from. EBV is a common virus that most of us carry. Mine was in an acute flare of mono when the blood was drawn per LLMD.

Now, after 30 days PrevPac, my symptoms of lyme and babs are gone. (At this time I am 5 mths on treatment but symptoms left after 30 days) Dr is using same meds to treat babs.

I assume you do not have insurance. If not and money is an issue. Then change your diet to an EXTREMELY healthy one.

Hypocrates said "Let Food Be Your Medicine and Medicine Be Your Food".

Diet is the equivalent of gas in the car or nutrients fed to plants. You know cheap gas makes your car ping and feeding nutrients to your plants makes them healthier, but we don't seem to know how to feed our bodies so our body can fight off infections.

I am not recommending anyone drop medication or herbal treatments and just eat right. Rather, EVERYONE needs to eat right whether or not they are sick and especially if they are sick.

Drugs will work much faster and better if you feed your body correctly.

In EVERY case, primo diet is necessary. But, if you can't afford any medical treatment, then primo diet becomes the only thing you can do. It is a start and an important step in healing, but you also need to find some way to get medical treatment. Medicare? Medicaid?

Good luck. I hope this is of some help.

Luvs

Dr says take all the CoQ10 I can afford and all the magnesium my bowels can handle.
