Hello,
Just wondering how many of you out there have experienced night terrors caused by Lyme? My husband and I have, now my 13 yr old daughter is having them.

She's not sleeping at night and waking up hysterical and crying. We don't watch horror flicks or anything violent, and she's had them before, but not to this extent.

Thanks for any input.

YES! I'm so sorry your daughter is experience this. Tell your daughter that it's part of the illness.

Sometimes herxing, especially while on mepron, can bring vivid dreams back up. It's a trip.

Do a search on here and you'll find a lot of my posts regarding my daughter and her night terrors.

She had to go on medication in order to sleep.

You can private message me if you like. Just click on the envelope above this post.

Hello;

My son, now 4 1/2 years old, was born with Borrelia and Mycoplasma fermentans. My wife was infected with Borrelia, Babesia, Ehrlichia, Mycoplasma, and Bartonella while 38 weeks pregnant.
Our boy suffered with night terrors for several months until our LLMD put him on pediatric Zithromax and probiotics for many, many months ( now they have less expensive generic azithromyicin ).
He no longer suffers the night terrors and has had no relapse of this particular synmptom for well over a year now, but unfortunately, he still tests positive for Borrelia.
On the flip side he is asymtomatic.
Godspeed.

oh yes - I used to dread going to bed at night; not only were the night terrors so ... well, terrifying, thay also haunted me all the next day, affecting my mood.

This got better then went away during intense treatment with Dr. H. but now that I am on what I think of as a "maintenance dose" with a local doc, I occasionally get these awful haunting beyond-nightmare dreams and I cannot figure out where they come from. Unbelievable what lurks within our minds!!

I had horrible night terrors before and during treatment. I would wake up screaming, kicking an punching.

Thankfully, IV lyme treatment helped and I haven't had an episode for a while.

Amy Tan's essay, "The Opposite of Fate" is interesting re: her experience with Lyme hallucinations and night terrors (she just calls them dreams). It's contained in her book of the same title.

Vjb, please mention this to your doctor. At the ILADS convention, they spoke about being sure to help patients with their quality of life as well as working on healing their disease.

Depression can be caused or made worse by chronic lack of restful sleep, and pain can become worse. There are different things your doctor can suggest or prescribe to help. I hope you will start feeling better soon.

Take care,
Shaz

Thank you everyone for your feedback..it's most appreciated! She is currently on doxycycline (going on 3 months). She was mentally and emotionally falling apart before beginning this and did an amazing 360 deg positive turn. This is the first time she's seemed negatively affected by it.

Also, I thought maybe she's herxing because it's been going on for a week now that she's having night terrors and has done a huge backslide mentally and emotionally.

Thanks!

Sounds so awful for a child to endure. This stuff doesn't play fairly!

I had terrible night terrors during herxes accompanied with severe headache. My normal herx and reg sx was bad air hunger and heart palps/arhythemias(sp).

CoQ10 and L-Carnitine helped tremendously (just posted same in another thread)maybe it would help with the terrors.

Also - is your daughter taking Omega 3's? Really helps the brain heal.

I also take phosphotydal serine...one of the phosphos in lecithin(sp). Seemed to help my brain - I'm very neuro.

Please check with your doctor before trying or adding any supplements.
