I have been on a combo of Doxy (200mg daily) and Zithromax (250mg MWF) for 8 months now for Lyme and am functioning around 85%. My new LLMD went through my old tests and realized my Dr had never treated me for Bart and thinks this will put me into remission.
I do not want to chance Levaquin and he agrees. Wants to add Rifampin to the mix at 600mg daily all at once. Start slowly with 300mg day, see how I feel and then up to 600mg daily.
Has anyone heard of Doxy, Zith, Rifampin combo? Sounds like alot of abx, but since my Doxy and Zith dosages are low, he thinks it should be ok.
I have a feeling I am going to have a herx from hell. I am no longer herxing much from the Doxy/Zith, though have some herxy days here and there.
Any helpful comments?
Thanks!

Rifampin caused one of the worst herxes I have ever had. I started at the full dose 300mg 2x day along with doxy.
All I can say is get ready...this drug really packs a punch.

I was on rifampin and zith and it worked to a point. i had a particularly resistent case of bart. No negative effects from rif. One of the meds that really worked wonders for me was tinidazole - that one really brought me back to the land of the living. Unfortunately I plateaued on it, but definitely a wonder drug while it worked... cootiegirl

I was treated with Rifampin (600mg) and Flagyl (375mg). Never needed to add anything else because the two worked so well. Just my experience..

I did rifampin with mino and plaquenil. WHAT A PUNCH but it was the best combo ever for me for neuro symptoms.
I'd do it again and actually am hoping to as I don't think I did it long enough.
Good luck. The punch was well worth it for me.
