I started an abx challenge this a.m. to see if it would produce a herx. I had the bite with the rash last year, typical symptoms and 2 WB which came back positive only for bands 39 and 41. The LLMD has decided the challenge would help rule out other infections vs. Lyme. He told me if I herxed I would feel like I had the flu.
I took my first dose of Biaxin and Flagyl a couple of hours ago. So far I have been extremely nauseated and both arms are tingly and feel like they are going numb. I feel somewhat sleepy. No fever, chills or achiness yet.
However, I felt so crappy prior to starting the challenge, I wonder if I will be able to tell the difference. Are the symptoms of a herx drastic? subtle?
Thanks!

If you are feeling worse, and not having a possible allergic reaction,
Then congrats! You are herxing!
Call your LLMD and let them know.
Hugs,

hi arc35476
you can start to herx right away, I have many times....but after having said that it's best to keep in close conntact with your doctor & let him know hwo you are feeling.
Some side effects can be from the abx and it's sometimes hard to tell which is a herx & which is from the abx side effects.
If you have a high germ load....you could be a tough ride, as far as herxing
Are you taking any pro-biotics? Or doing anything for detox? I would also ask your doctors about these things as well.
Hang in there & hope it can pass soon
herxing can feel like forever but does eventually pass
Healing hugs Dana
none of the above is medical advise...just my 2 cents...make sure to talk over everything first with your LLMD
