Relapse Anyone?

Any suggestions on what to do or what helps? It's so strange how quickly you can go from being really hopeful to absolutely overwhelmed & devastated. Anyhow my llmd had me stop one of my medications and it feels like I'm having a relapse. [Frown]

Basically right now I'm feeling so exhausted and pretty hopeless (``every way you look at it, you lose'' sort of thing). My tingling in limbs has returned as well as depression (maybe you noticed,) nightmares, and I've had an great increase of aching/tiredness in my muscles overall, an increase in ``dizzy`` feelings, and incoordination.

Additionally I got a sore throat around the time I started feeling the worsening, --which is something which I never, or rarely, get. As for thinking it seems like my abstract thinking has been knocked down a notch or two (and it was low to begin with, very low).

Since there are indentations all over in my skin recently I'm not sure if it is Bartonella or Babesia? I would guess Babesia but I'm not sure...

I've already contacted them, but it will take me a while to get the medication anyhow. I'm really spiritually weary. When thinking back about my goals to do a pure good (the expression has special meaning for me, but I think that conveys the general gist) it seems like ``what (nonprescription) drug was I on then?''. Maybe I'll write a second message in general about those feelings since my questions here were mainly: does it sound more like Babesia, Bartonella, Lyme or something else relapsing? What can I do medically beyond what I've done already?

Thanks much for anyone's answers and replies.

P.S. Also it seems from reading other people's message's there's been a lot of upheaval at lyme.net recently? I know so many people here are very kind & just trying to help, so I hope that the moderators un-ban all those people.

Hi John [hi]

Yes, I recently went through exactly what you are going through now -- the dreaded relapse. I've been back on minocycline for two weeks now.

Going back on antibiotics seems to really have kicked things up -- my symptoms increased even more after going back on the mino. Not sure whether or not this is a sign that the lyme is still there or not, but I think it is.

Ahhhh . . . meditation. It was a large part of my "get well" program. I highly recommend it.

How long were you on abx? From what I see, the shorter the time period, the greater the chance of relapse. 18 months of abx is the number some recommend as minimum duration.

Sorry you are having to go through this. I relapsed at the beginning of the year. Not fun. The main thing for me was to get back on treatment, but also to be kind to myself and try to get more rest and quiet. Reduce the stress in your life if you can.

I can't help with the symptoms and what they might mean for you, I hope that your doctor's office can help with that.

I know how depressing it can be - I have been there. See if you can do something that you really love. Something that makes you feel "normal". I know that can sometimes be hard when you are relapsing, but it has always been a great boost to my psychy.

Getting sunlight helps also. Especially going into winter months and with depression. I have a light box that I use, but I also try to get outside regularly to be in the sun.

Hang in there. Someone else mentioned meditation. Prayer and meditation are great ways to bring peace and calm in.

Take care
Robin
