What is the normal/average dosage used of Nystatin for yeast control?

I am currently on Ceftin (Generic) 500mg X3 a day and it's starting to get to my gut, mouth and tongue!

I am taking Theralac and Acidopholus.

Any suggestions? Is Nystatin a good way to go to help with yeast? I have an appt. w/ my PCP on Monday and was going to ask him to write me a prescription for it since I won't be seeing my LLMD for another month. Oh btw I'm a male!

Thanks!

Hi!

Good quality probiotics PLUS an antifungal, like Nystatin, depending on what your LLMD says.

Cut way, way back on carbs.

Fiber is helpful.

I take 3 pills a day of "Nystatin, 500000 U." That's what my prescription bottle says--honest!

A whitish or barely whitish film on your tongue is a sign of yeast.

I take anywhere from 6 - 10 a day and that dose really helps!

My tongue is pinker then pink!

I was out of it for awhile and my tongue was not happy. Coconut oil helps, but nothing beats Nystatin. Plus I think the longer your on abx the more you may need later on.

When I first started abx I was taking only 1 -2 a day.

Hope this helps you,
Lisi

Yes, my pills are spaced throughout the day, 3 in the morning, 3 in the afternoon and then 4 at night. I asked my LLMD for the higher dose so I could cut back on my diflucan usage.

And yes, taking the higher dosage of Nystatin helps me very much.

Is the Nystatin better than florastor? Is it the same thing? Do you need a prescription for Nystatin?

Hi All

Nystatin Powder works 10 times better than
the pill form --

To get the same Effect as you get from the
powder you would have to take at least
15 pills --

It will make you herx but they will
end Quickly and your candida problem
will be Much better in about 10 days

Most of the time the pharmacy is going
to have to order it--

Make Sure to tell the pharmacy that it
has to be -- Kept Cold ---

They dont sell as much of the Nystatin powder
so you have to remind them of this --

The powder form comes with a plastic spoon-
you mix 1 spoon into cold water-

Swish in mouth and swallow -

Drink all of it -

No Carb diet is Important-
Dont Cheat --Jay--

The liquid contains SUGAR!!! Not a good idea...IMO.

Yes, you need a prescription. Nystatin is a good one to take because it does not affect the liver.

I have no choice, where I live they don't sell it in any other form.
I eat a sugar free diet, so if I get a little sugar from this, I guess it's not so horrible.
This stuff does make me constipated though.
I think I've been constipated ONCE my whole life, but since taking Nystatin, it's beem almost 4 days that I can barely go.
ugh!
