I think I'm going nuts. Tell me I'm not going nuts, please...
Am on mino and tindamax, and am a total wreck. The peripheral neuropathy is through the roof and it feels like my feet are completely on fire. Can't hold a coffee cup, and dropping things left and right. Achey, flu-ish, profound fatigue, and enormous black eyes (Halloween is over, but not in my house).
The worst part is the combo of anxiety, depression, sadness, and anger. I am on an emotional rollercoaster. I am fine one moment, then weepy and crying the next, stuck in a personal pity party. The next thing I know I am just so angry that I would like to go somewhere alone and smash plates. This is not like me at all.
What is going on?
Is this the tindamax? This is the longest I've ever made it on it - have been on 10 days so far. Prior to this, only pulsed it for a few days each month.
Gritting my teeth to get through this, but hoping that someone will tell me (and my family!) that this will pass...
Thanks, Cactus

I imagine it's the tindamax. It's a kissing cousin to FLAGYL which has been known to bring big burly guys to their knees.
I hated every moment on flagyl. It would send me into the depression pit and I would stay there until I stopped the med.
Be careful with the neuropathy. The tindamax could make it very bad, and I know with flagyl, it can cause permanent damage.
I would call your LLMD if I were you!!

Yes it is....I took 2G/day for 6 months. It's a wonder I'm here. At the time that was the recommended dose as per Martin Atkinson Barr.
It's the tini not you...If you get thru it you'll be OK. The burning feet finally stop (mostly). The depression stops when you stop the tini.

I was recently on a cyst buster for a short time (not tini) and I was stunned by all the emotional symptoms that it caused. I was not prepared and it really took me by surprise.
You are not alone in your emotional response to a cyst buster.
Hang in there. Hope you feel better very soon.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to all of you. It's good know it's probably the tindamax and not me, and will pass.
I posted last night, cried again, and have not had the heart to do much since - not even turn on the computer.
One more day on the tindamax, and my latest round will be over, thank goodness.
Had no idea this could be so emotional.
Hugs and thanks to all, Cactus

My LLMD says Tindamax kills lyme bugs in the brain. He has had patients who become very depressed, even suicidal on it, so he always cautions patients to be careful. Or maybe the mood swings are just a side effect of the drug.
In any case, I wish you well and hope you can push through your course of it.
Take care, Nutmeg

I've used Tindamax daily for several years (1500mg daily), and not had any depression/emotional or bad periph. neuro problems with it, but I probably don't have nearly as many symptoms left as you have either. I think your reaction might be more from the die-off of your higher germ load, more herx than drug "side-effect". If it were me, I'd try to keep taking it, if your doc agrees. Maybe at a lower dose or spaced differently...
I had more severe herxing with flagyl and it did cause some peripheral neuropathy/numbness & stabbing in my toes, but that has mostly faded now--but it took several years after stopping the flagyl to fade. It's known to happen with over 3 mo. of use, sometimes even less. I prefer the tinidazole/Tindamax to flagyl any day...

Yes, I think it's definately the tindamax. I herxed terribly the whole month I was on it. Nothing but doom and gloom the whole time. I think it really helped with the numbness in my feet.
Hang in there this too will pass.

It's good to know I've got company in the tini nuthouse. This is one dark, painful place.
Took my last dose, for this round, and glad it's over. Now it's time to wait for this to pass - wonder how long it takes to get out of our system?
And how long it will take for my family to recover from the weird antics of tini-me, my evil twin.
Consoling myself that if I feel bad, the buggies feel worse, Cactus

Minocycline was enough for me to freak. Adding tindimax with that is a rough road. I finished tindimax yesterday for the second time. My doc wouldn't put me on flagyl again after the first experience with it. I'm on IV rocephin and oral zithromax. Bear with it. It does pass, but let your doc know how you're feeling. You'll be back to yourself soon.
Be well.

I take tindimax five days a week...and have for the past year.
At first, all my symptoms, esp neuro symptoms, were exacerbated. That calmed down after awhile.
But still, for those 4 days each month, I still get waves of anxiety, depression and paranoia. Manageable but noticeable. It can be difficult for me to keep things in perspective.
On the flip side, I've made a LOT of progress on tindi, so, for me, it really has been a good thing. When I'm on it, I try not to take things so seriously...and when I start getting wacky, I have to remind myself it's the tindi, not me.
I also try not to schedule anything too emotional during those four days, because I'm never entirely sure how I'm going to respond.

yep, any csyt buster is an emotional roller coaster. What I tell myself when going threw this is it's just the tinnie, flagel or GSE talking. It helps to keep this in mind.
It is only temorary, and will pass in time.
hang in there
