Is it normal to have Streptococcus in the stool.
Tested postive for Gamma and Alpha Hemolytic.

Both tested for moderate amounts and the test study said no pathogens should be detected.

How would this be treated, I also have high amounts of Candida albicans and candida krusei in the stool.

Any suggestions on how to handle this double edge sword? Seeing my doc on Monday, would appreciate any suggestions.

Test were done at Diagnostic Techs. Also stated a possible exposure to Toxoplasma (saliva) but cannot indicate if there is a ongoing or recent infection. Never been around cats and have city water.

Lots of sores in my mouth....don't know if it's bacterial now or fungal.......cultures have tested pos for both.

Thanks...................

Funny-I had the same results. From what I understand-the stool test isn't accurate-everyone has some candida in their stool. Toxoplasma can be a recent or old exposure.

When you find out how to determine the acuracy..let me know.

PS-What lab did you use?

You can get Toxo from tick bites. I read a study from europe, I am going to have to try to find.

You can also get toxo from meat that you eat that isn't cooked well enough.

You could also inhale toxo from gardening and changing cat litter.

Toxo is supposed to be benign, but I don't think so. They say many people have been exposed.

I have it and had an active case. Not fun.

It is dangerous in pregnancy

Here is the study someone sent me a while back. Not overwhelming, but possible

Merrygirl,
How do you know if it's active or inactive (old infection)? What were you treated with ?

I wonder if we would all test pos for Strep if we are diagnosed with Lyme?

Did a search.....but could not find a answer about strep in the stool.

I will copy the paper and give it to my doc on Monday about the Toxoplasma. Thank You.

I think it is a pretty common finding or at least not uncommon. Most of us on ABX have some bowel flora issues. Strep is a common finding and not all strains are bad - though the test will identify some that are as it has in your case. To me it would just signal a better diet with less sugar, probiotics, etc.

I really don't know about strep in the stool.

For me I had a toxo antibody test 2 years ago and I was negative ( I was getting prenatal labs done and I am a vet tech) and then last year I tested positive for Toxo when I had a flu like illness (neg for Lyme then).

Quest also has a blood panel called

Toxoplasma gondi recent infection panel which may be helpful

They measure using the IgM (recent) and IgG (past) system. If you have IgM antibodies and Neg IgG that would point to a recent infection.

They also use IgA antibody detection for acute toxo and is supposed to be a reliable method of detecting congenital Toxo infection.

Who knows how reliable the testing is.

I havent been treated yet (ugh!) but it is my understanding that Bactrim would be a good choice.

The test should show you if the strep found is a pathogen or possibly a potential pathogen

I had some possible pathogen strep a year ago, i took a lot of probiotics, increased my olive leaf, and last month it didnt show.

Did they do an abx sensitivity to the strep or an herbal sensitivity?

The test were performed at Diagnos-Techs in Tukwila WA....

The test states no pathogens should be detected....
My tests read as Pathogens/Bacterial Overgrowth detected Streptoccus moderate, Corynebacterium rare.........moderate to abundant growth of mixed gram pos and neg flora.
3 plus candida and 1 plus candida krusei.

I'm not a brainiac so......are any of these normal types of bacteria that would be found in amyone's stool ??? I know the candida count is high.

Thank you.............
Need to know how to address this to the doc so he doesn't think I'm a total blithering idiot.

sheri- the doc should be bringing this to your attention, and if you dont have a medical backround you should not feel like an idiot at all.

but i know how it is, i feel i know more about my illness than most dr.

Some strains of strep are normally found, however there are pathogenic strains of strep.

Did it list what the pathogens can be treated with?

On my stool test with Genova labs, it showed which herbals and prescription meds would be affective against the pathogens.

Nothing on the labs stating what they could be treated with.
I just assumed maybe strep was in all our stool.

I will address this with the doc tomorrow.
The test does state no pathogens should be found.
Very confusing >!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can get toxo from undercooked meat, not just from cats. In most cases, it does not become a chronic or recurring infection. I tested positive through Diagnostechs and my LLMD did want to treat me, but I got diarrhea so we had to back of treatment.

As far as strep, I know I tested positive for strep in a culture at my ob/gyn (not stool). Her office said it is common to have some strep bacteria there and they normally don't treat it unless it is a larger amount then showed, because of the potential of yeast infections if you treat.

However, my LLMD has always suspected from my symptoms that I had a chronic strep infection. So I told her, and she said she knew it was in my system and she just couldn't find it.
