I am kind of new to this group. Have REALLY loved all the insights and ideas from everyone
I was wondering if anyone has experience using Rifabutin rather than Rifampin? I am currently on Bicillin, Biaxin and Rifampin but am interested in the possibility of switching from Rifampin to Rifabutin. I'm not so keen on the intereraction between Rifampin and Biaxin (as Rifampin significantly lowers Biaxin blood levels). Rifabutin does as well, but not nearly as badly as Rifampin.
Anyways, would appreciate any ideas or input!

Hi Georgina,
Not sure of the answer to your question, but some llmds suggest taking rifampin in combination with minocycline. Probably other abx too, so probably good to speak with your doctor and see whether the biaxin or rifampin should be swapped out.
