Hey everyone.

I went back on Flagyl by my own choice. I told my LLMD that it cleared my bowels and seemed like it helped me in the past.

The only thing I dont get is that I never really herxed at all on it. 2 years ago I was on it for about 2-3- months.

This time around I noticed that right after I started it I got a clearer and more calm feeling in my head and my energy improved.

However I am now getting those darn muscle twitches again every couple of minutes all over my body. Especially my face. The LLMD says that its hitting the LYME and these twitches are evidence that the Flagyl is hitting the Lyme.

I asked him if these twitches were from the Flagyl irritating the nerves. He said "no." That if the Flagyl was irritating the nerves that I would be experiencing neuropathy in my legs.

Well I do have neuropathy from over exhersion and sugar, but I never had it from Flgayl.

So what gives? Am I hitting more then the cyst here?

Has anybodies head cleared from taking Flagyl????

Thanks in advance
LymeHerx

i had one heck of a herx on flagy -- major migraine, but it really helped. my face stopped twitching, the eyes stopped twitching, my neck was not near as hot.

i hope to get it again. it really worked for me when nothing else did.

It hits so much that it is very strange.

Thanks

Hi LymeHerx001,

As I understand it, just because you never herxed on the latest flagyl dose, doesn't mean it wasn't working.

Some don't herx and no one knows why.

But it seems more likely that you are having a herx now! That could very well be the twitching. Lyme antibiotics bringing a herx make all our symptoms worse! Until the herx is over.

I take flagyl only two days a week (with other antibiotics) and I'm getting prickly herxes for 12 days or so each month.

I'm glad you got better, overall.

Sounds like maybe you are a ways away from the end point of treatment.

Stay with it!

Daise [Smile]

I haven't had muscle twitching in a long time.

Right now I am pulsing doxy and flagyl.

I am having some muscle twitches now. I attribute this to hitting the Lyme.

My most aggravating one is over my left eye.

Drives me crazy.

Hugs,

Geneal

Well If you have read any of my posts you will know that I DEFINITELLY have had a herx, hence my name lymeHerx001

That was on BIAXIN. 3 days of feeling better and then I felt like someone took tire irons broke both my knees and left me out in the rain. And thats the nice version.

I also experienced no herx the first time on Doxy,,,, but after Flagyl I had about a week and a half of bliss and then I started getting burning skin. Thought it was the sun,,, turned out it was a herx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After that I became extreemelly sensitive to doxy and would get suicidal encephalitis from any dosage.

Then came the antifungals. I would pass out for about 3 hours, have nightmares and then wake up depressed and everthing would be colorless.

Yes this is the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well I know we are all confused on here. Good luck with your herx,,, back off if you have to.

Anyway my point was I have not herxed very hard on Flagyl,,, my brain just felt better.

What I did experience was increased muscle twitched. Thats all [Smile]

Be well, think positive, pray, stay in the moment, be greatfull you are experiecing this life now and dont feel sorry for yourself.

Oh yea, dont ever compare yourself to others who seem to be doing better then you. Theres only you out there anyway haha

Im feeling better on Flagyl tonight!

I had some herxing with burning neck and some burning under the skin but tonight Im feeling a little better. I didnt even have to sleep after work.

Im either waiting for one of 3 things.

To get worse (herx)
To get better (but not without another AB?)
To stay the same (again)

Yay!!!! Lets go Flagyl. Hit those cysts and mutant L-forms in my neo-cortex and hypothalamus

What ellse it hitting? God knows!!!!!!!

My doctor who went to school for 8 years cant tell me. He said it might hit parisites. So he gave me a $450 parisite test.

You guessed it... Nothing... theres nothing wrong with me. balh balh blah [Frown]

So Ill just go and waste my money on probiotics.

Yeast doesnt even show. Then what about that herxing on GSE,carpylic, nystatin, and oleic acid....I must be a big dreamer.

The other doc said they have to swab it to find anything. Well, I doubt youd got a q-tip THat long.

Im just gonna take my intestines out and have them put in some robotics. It would be much better that way.

Yes it still does clear my bowels. It does not however give me diarhorea. They are formed and long.

Your welcome for the graphics. [Wink]

Could it be the Flagyl is hitting yeast, hence the clear head and bowels? Just a thought, as I too felt much better for taking it (after the herx from you know where..) Even the twitches - could it be hitting systemic candida?

Again, just my thoughts out loud.

Glad you're feeling better.

I am bumping this beacause after a couploe of months I took some Flagyl last night and this morning.

This morning about 20-30 minutes after taking it I feel calm, my skin is in less pain , and I feel mildy happy and my vision is clearer.

Why does Flagyl do this? And is being on this long term safe?

I just dont get it.

By the was when I take anti-funglas they leave me suicidal and in MORE pain with blurred vision so I cant say that the Flagyl is hitting the yeast

when i tried cleared my head, i didn't take it for fear to develop resistence; i know various lymies that take it for improve symptoms and activity

perhaps would be that inhibit eritroaglutination in case of sepsis, blood come better to brain, in some lymies the improve is too much fast for be only a antibiotic efect

flagyl is often used for c. dif, so I am not surprised it helps the bowels. Hiker53

Flagyl has done the opposite for me. It gives me the worst headaches as in nothing not even the prescription Fioricet can relieve it.

The headaches come about 30-60 minutes after taking them usually the worst 3 days into it and lasting 3 days after being off it.

I also find my lower stomach very upset as well as my intestines. And the yeast problems feel worse.

I am taking a break this month from it and I am on the fence, I want to bust those cysts but my body can't take the medicine.

I am glad to hear that flagyl is working for you because it is a great cyst buster.Let me know how it works out, I am intersted in hearing how you take to it.

How long do you take it and what other abx are you taking?

Kristen, Biaxin is my main abx. I stay on it for pain control and fatigue even though it makes my multiple chemical sensitivites worse.

Doxy first did nothing. Then herxed and had a week of bliss! Thought it was a miracle.

Now even 5mg makes me suicidal and gives my burning skin!!!! Im serious.

Zith makes my exit hole itch and gives me a breally noticble herx.

Ketek did NOTHING!!!! Was on that for a while.

All the antifunglas are like DEATH.

Am I toxic or what? Enough allready.

lymeHerx001,
I also take biaxon for 3 weeks and flagyl for 1 week. At first it was the biaxon that made me an emotional crazy woman.(my poor husband!) [Eek!]

Now it is the flagyl that makes me really horrible with pain and emotions. In fact my headaches are so bad that after they subside I get fluid coming out of my ears.

I don't even want to get into down there! I didn't realized I signed up for all of this! [bonk]

I came into this treatment very blinded and never expected everything that I have been going through! I thought that I would feel better being on abx's

Oh, how I was wrong! I am just learning as I go along, and it is not fun!
