I've had six weeks of Ceftriaxone. There is some kind of communication problem between the Dr's office & the infusion company.
I couldn't seem to get it resolved today & now I have no supplies for infusion tomorrow.
Can someone please reassure me that this is no big deal because I'm REALLY upset right now.
Thanks. Ali
PS- I'M HATING THIS!!!!! This whole IV thing from the beginning has been one problem after another for me.
The only thing that's been keeping me glued together is that I've been hearing that everyone has made such great improvements on this.
I've really had enough of dealing with all the problems I've been having. Everytime I think I've tackled all the issues & things are going to settle down, something else pops up.
It's like there's a giant freaking black cloud hanging over my head.
Now I have to wait for this Dr's office to call me back about this? I'm still waiting for her to call me back about the chest pain from LAST MONDAY!!!!!
Sorry, I needed to vent.
Please tell me missing a dose is no big deal. It's a slow replicating bacteria right. People pulse stuff. I'm going to be OK, right.
This is still REALLY hard to maintain patience with.

Are you pulsing the Rocephin? I was four days on-three days off, so I should think missing a dose would be okay.
I have monthly appointments with my LLMD so new orders are written and faxed in before I even leave the office.
I guess for next time you can call ahead of time to be sure the order is in place. But it sounds like your Doctor's office is not very responsive.
And please tell me you are on actigal for your gallbladder-or is that something that's already gone?

Hi Ali,
Hang in there!
In my non-medical, I-am-not-a-doctor opinion, (based on speaking with the lyme literate doctors though about this), missing a day or two should not hurt treatment at all.
Hope next week goes easier.

I just got a call-back from the Dr's office.
The infusion company billing dept was gone for the day. (Of course they were)
If they got the approval they'll send the supplies tomorrow. If not, they'll send them whenever they get the approval, so I should just just continue with maintenance of the PICC until I get the ABX.
She told me that, since I already have it in my system, I should be fine.
I would like to ask this: Why then is it important for me to try to infuse at the same time each day??!!!

Thanks guys, that's what I needed!
I'm alright, I'm OK......
I forgot you were pulsing Carol. That does make me feel better.
Actigall? Of course not. Why would I want to protect my gallbladder? (Thanks for reminding me. I go back next Monday & wanted to ask about it.)
I really wish I could click my ruby slippers together three times. I wish I was home! I wish I was home! I wish I was home! I think I'm not in LLMD-land anymore.
Wait a minute!!!! She just told me he's only in the office Tuesday & Thursday afternoons. My appointments have been on Mondays. WHO THE HECK HAVE I BEEN TALKING TO?!!!!!
Oh this is rich. It just gets funnier & funnier all the time.

I am currently doing Rocephin (2Grams) and have pulsed throughout as follows:
Week 1 & 2 - everyday Weeks 3-7 - every other day Week 8 (now) - 2 days on; 1 days off; 2 on; 1 off, etcc
The pattern change was due to bad herxing as well as liver issues. I also am on Actigall.
I am no doc, but I am pretty sure you are okay missing a day, based on what I am doing. I was also on either minocycline or doxycycline every day during this time.
Good luck

Pulsed Flagyl , took Minocycline for two months, Arteminisin(herbal) and also Rifampin.
LLMD always has me on two antibioitcs concurrently.

AliG,
I am on IV Rocephin 2grams, 2xdaily. For Six weeks. No pulsing, no Actigall, no mention of probiotics.
My Doctors nurses, the infusion co., and my home health nurses are all very accessable, but I too am wondering if all of the bases are being covered.
I am taking Theralac on my own, thanks to all of the advice here. I see my Doctors nurse tomorrow and am going to mention Actigall....you should too!

Thanks everyone.
I still didn't see anyone say they pulsed the Rocephin without being on another ABX , but the approval went through. My ABX will get out to me today so it will be pretty late, but not missed.
Man I need a nap!
Thanks again! Ali
