Hi everyone. I have been having frustrating symptoms on the left side of my face and neck. The left side of my neck and face feel puffy, like there is fluid in there, up to my ear. They also feel swollen/puffy when I touch them but it's not really visible just looking at it.

I also have enlarged lymph nodes under my jaw just on that left side but they are minimally swollen, not huge. Still a definite difference from my "normal" right side of face.

My thyroid blood tests have been normal and my LLMD did not see anything funny in the ear drum. He did note some swelling on the left side of my neck and said this is likely from lyme.

Have any of you had something similar? The left side of my face is initially where my first symptoms started. I am very freaked out because I have been on rocephin for about a month and doxy and buhner herbs for almost 3 months now with no change in this symptom, if anything the fluid/puffiness is getting worse and I am worried of it spreading to the other side too.

Does this get better with treatment in anyone's experience? Do you have any ideas or suggestions I can try to help this? Thanks to all of you for input.

My whole face got puffy edema and swelling above and below my eyes- and yes, it went away eventually- with treatment for BABESIOSIS!!!

Thanks Sarah. I am currently treating babs with one malarone daily and herbs- maybe it will help in time if it's that. Did the swelling get worse on treatment before it got better?

Has anyone else experienced this neck/face fluid symptom and knows of anything that helped?

i'm glad you posted this. i didn't know what was causing it.

the left side of my nose, not the cheek, puffs up from the top to bottom.

also my eyebrow has a swelling on it near the nose. not the eyelid, but the brow. and the eyelid droops.

i thought it was just me.

it went away with the flagyl but now back again.

I get the swelling too, mostly in my jaw and neck, where my glands are, but also in my mouth area. Some days I look like a Muppet.

It happens much less frequently since I've been on meds, but it seems to still happen during my bad weeks. And is accompanied by much worse pain than usual.

It DID get worse before it got better- I looked scary frankly- and worse in the mornings!!!!!!!!!
Would calm down during day alittle, would wake up with eyes centimeters puffed out!!! Sometimes my right eye would be almost shut (and they seeped) (water like tears but not tears).

NOW all gone- THANK GOODNESS*)!!!!! Took time.

Definitely reacted to Babs meds!!! & Bart meds actually- the last of it went away with Cipro-
I think it was both- initially Babs but slight thyroid dysfunction from Bart- does not always show up on tests- hypothyroidism-

I just wanted to dig this post up again in hopes that some of these people still post here, because I'm dealing with this issue right now and no one can seem to tell me what it is and how to fix it...

My face looks different in a really odd way...there seems to be more swelling on the right side than the left side, and most of the swelling is in my cheeks. You can't really see my bone structure anymore, my face just looks round-ish. I try to ice them to make the swelling go down but it doesn't work.

This became worse when I started artemisinin and enula...and I noticed that some people thought it was a babesia symptom, can anyone confirm that? Any thoughts?

I hope everyone's swelling went down [Smile]
