My son had Lyme 5 years ago and is currently being reevaluated. We ran the WB through LabCorp in September and the IGM only had a positive for band 41. His IgG showed positive bands 66,58,41, and 18 (some report this to be Lyme specific).
His current symptoms include many delayed food allergies. He continues to have stomach pains and some nausea despite being gluten, dairy, egg, soy, legume and nut free (for years). He also complains of some knee pain and fatigue. Other symptoms that have cropped up in the past 8 months are anxiety, some OCD and vocal tics.
We are working with a LLMD. His Fry test was negative for co-infections. Our plan is to have him take Cat's Claw and retest the WB though IGenex. Does anyone have any input as to how long he should take Cat's Claw before doing the WB?
Thanks. --Judy

I've never heard of using that to elicit a positive response on a WB. Did your son's LLMD suggest it??
This link contains info regarding doxy... taken at 400mg [or was it 500??] a day for 3 wks, then off for 10 days...then test.

My son's nutritionist was the first to recommend a trial of Cat's Claw. When I ran that by our LLMD he agreed that it was a good herb and that if it stimulates my son's immune system it might provide us with some information by seeing how he responds. After reading the link you provided (which I have read before but pick up new info each time) I think I will stop the Cat's Claw for at least a few days before having my son's blood drawn for the WB. That seems to be what is done when antibiotics are used to try to stimulate a positive WB. I do not think my son could tolerate oral antibiotics because his gut is so sensitive.
Thanks.

In my signature is the 'herbal links' thread which contains ONE thread about this practice. I would really, really like to hear from anyone for whom this worked to turn a negative WB to a positive one, as I have several friends with Lyme symptoms who test negative consistently.
