I just finished 12 weeks of IV Zithromax and my Dr. just switched me to IV Levaquin for 12 weeks.. I was just wondering if anyone has experience with IV Levaquin... I have taken oral levaquin in the past before I got sick and had no problems.. but my concern is taking it through the IV.. Thanks

Kelly

I would just be aware of all the side effects so you can stop the med if problems arise.

I had trouble last week with oral Levaquin. It was making my nerves flare [painful!]

Levaquin can cause nerve damage. Just be aware of that. Many can tolerate the drug very well.

I would think it would really get at the bart!

How are you dosing the IV levaquin? Twice daily?

How long did your doc say you have to stay on it?

Kelly that's awesome you're seeing improvement. The once daily dosing sounds easier than orals.

I really hope the levaquin helps you.

im on 500 mg oral levaquin, its what has helped give me the little bump i needed towards healing.

anyway, its 6 weeks in and my knees are hurting bad.
this med is most notorious for causing tendon damage, so look out for tendon pain.

im actually about to take a week off, then get back on it.

it has been a crucial med for me, so its worth any possible side effects imo.

every abx has a laundry list of possible side effects. its up to you to decide if you are sick enough to roll the dice.

good luck, this should help u a lot.

ps- do u have any pos testing for bart?
if so, through which lab?

Hi Kelly,

I did IV Levaquin for many months. It was a great med for me and really helped knock out symptoms that I thought would never go away.

Hoping you see wonderful results too!
