I have never had a swollen lymph node. I found one three days ago just anterior to my left ear lobe. I looked at some graphs on the web and determined it to be a "parotid lymph gland".

So, my limited research says that this can be a virus (mumps) but not likely since it is on only one side. It can be a bacterial infection, often a staph infection. It can be a blockage. It can be lymphoma. Well, the list goes on and on.

It is about the size of a big grape. It is sore to the touch.

I have had no Lyme symptoms for 4 weeks except for a slight ache in one elbow. I have been on antibiotics for 8 weeks.

In addition to this lump, I have had a headache for three days as well.

Do you think this may be Lyme related or something else. I am going to make an appointment with an ENT but my go-around with MDs this past summer has made me a little cautious.

Lily,

You're right to get it checked. From what I've read, cancerous nodes are not usually sore...so that's a good sign.

Any dental issues?

Is it hard or soft?

When I had mono last year, I had a lymph node like a super ball under my chin. Took weeks to fully disappear.

I think even a regular doc could give you a clue on it. [Smile]

Could DEFINITELY bee Lyme or TBD related- could DEFINITELY be something else*)!!! Always get new manifestations checked out- always a good idea!

I had grossly swollen lymph nodes- Bartonella also does this- not just Lyme- very common-
but always could be something else, too!!!

Best wishes,
Sarah

You guys are awesome for asking so many questions!

The lump is hard.

I have no dental issues.

LLMD will be probably start Bart. treatment in a week or two based on previous symptoms. I'll know more after phone consult in about a week.

I am on Doxy and Amox.

The question I am wondering is how will I know if my doctor gets the whole picture? He was clueless this summer as it related to Lyme. My LLMD is way to far away to just go and visit. So, I feel like the treatment (if any) could be real disjointed.

Blessings,

Lily

I've been sick with something and I am waiting on tests for LD to come back from the Dr.

I have this- it's worse on one side and is also blocking my eustation tube I think.

I suspect it's related to LD (if I have that) or some other awful infection that just wont leave my body.

I asked my ENT about it and he says it's normal but he's a quack and didn't notice that I had a sinus infection.

I plan to ask my GP about it when I see her next week.... but if you find anything please let me know becuase if it's related to a LD infection than that's more proof that I have LD.

Good Luck,
Christine

Christine,

I have no idea if it is related to Lyme or not. That's what I am tryin gto figure out. However, this has never happened prior to Lyme.

What are earth did you ENT mean by telling you that it was normal? Normal for what?
