My saliva PH was 6.2 when I saw my LLMD. He said he would like it on the alkaline side 7.4. I'm too acidic and chronic illness can cause this.
He recommended tri-salts, baking soda, or alkaline water. He didn't tell me the dose or frequency or I just don't remember as I am so overwhelmed at these appointments with all my problems and all his information. Can anyone tell me what you take. I've never heard of tri-salts.
Sorry so many questions but I'm on overload with problems. Just found PH paper today. The baking soda mixed with water hasn't helped much. I'm 6.4.
I'm glad a board like this exists to get feedback from those who have been there done that. Many thanks to all of you....
I had also asked about heparin and think I will try it but I have to hold off until I get a thyroid nodule biopsied. Don't know what that may show.
In the last couple weeks I've also had problems with tachycardia(heart rate too fast) It's getting into the 130's. I'm taking atenolol which helps (another darn pill). Anyone else have this happen?
I'm close to the end of my rope. Liz

Yes, I've had similiar issues. Do this. Start drinking Orange juice, two glasses a day (loads of potassium) and also, take a 400 mg tablet of magnesium, My guess is within a day you're feeling 80% better.
When your body is low of these two key minerals you will be very acidic (go to wild oats and get the PH strips and what your PH hit 7.0 instantly when you take mag). Also, both low mag and potassium can cause the exact symtpoms you are describing. Take them at seperate times though, your body is starving of these two minerals, blood tests wont show it all of the time, your body will use every drop to maintain the proper blood levels but every cell in your body is starving.

If you are very acidic it can activate certain virus which bind through acid mediation- as well as some degenerative bodily processes.
But you don't want to become TOO alkaline either!! It's all about balance-

Zil,
Are you a coffee drinker? Coffee is very acidic. Whenever I would cut out the coffee, I would get alkaline. But I loved my two cups of coffee.
Happily, I discovered Teechino Tea which is an herbal coffee. It naturally has no caffiene and is loaded with potassium. It is alkalizing. I brew it in the coffee pot and put my creamer and stevia in it just like I did my coffee. I purchase it at my local healthfood store for less than what they advertise online.
Yummy and I am consistently alkaline.

My husband's LLMD also suggested Tri-Salts (company is Biotech) to increase alkalinity, starting with one tablet per day. It's a combination of calcium, sodium and potassium. He will start soon, so no feedback on effects yet.
From what I've read, just about any vegetable, especially the green ones, will help alkalinity, too.
Luvs, thanks for that reminder about Teechino. I have some too, and it's surprisingly good (lovely aroma when you open the canister). But it's SO hard to kick that morning coffee habit...
Best, Aviva

I use the drops and also the greens. I add the greens to my fruit smoothies.
Another very helpful thing I do is juice vegetables. I juice spinach, carrots, beets, celery, cucumber, parsley and bok choy. My urine is very alkaline after I drink it. (it's an aquired taste, though)
It's important not to drink SODA. It's the most acidic thing you can put in your body.
I use a coffee toddy and cold brew my coffee (can buy one at amazon.com). It removes 67% of the acid and makes the best tasting coffee I've ever had (and I'm a huge coffee snob!). I buy organic beans, grind them myself and cold brew.
I hope this helps. It took me quite a while watching my diet and doing the above before I became more alkaline.
You can get EvaMor alkaline water (9.0 ph) at health food stores but it' expensive. I used to brew my coffee with it but now I use the PH drops in reverse osmossis water.

Thanks again to all of you. I finally found PH paper. I'll keep track so I keep a "balance".
I use to be a daily coffee drinker. Couldn't start the day without a full pot when I was initially sick. I don't know what happened but I don't crave or want it anymore. This started about 6 mos ago.
Use to like an occasional beer(Corona with lime) or margarita and now the thought of drinking one makes me cringe. Strange. Gave up soda's when I cut the sugar out of my diet. I sure miss the chocolate and ice cream though.
Survived my thyroid biopsy this morning. Will find out the results in a couple of days. Liz
