After two years of unsuccessful antibiotic treatment (mostly IV), my partner is now in the first 10 days of the full Cowden protocol and the road is looking pretty rocky.
Anyone care to share their experiences in the first month or two of this? Thanks.

I hope someone come tell what they experienced.
I only did the Samento and Noni, from Cowden, I think I herxed enough on these tinctures alone.
I have no idea about other tinctures, but heard Cumanda and Banderol seem strong killers, so probably, expect lots of herxes on the way.
I am a person that can only take one stuff at at time, at least, when I was very sick. It was too much for my weakened body.
I hope your partner is also on the full cleansing protocol!
Has she been muscle tested? I read the protocols, it does seem the combinations of main killer herbs depend on the person.
sorry I can't be of more help. Selma

My husband has been on the full Dr. C. protocol for 8 wks. His main symptoms of limping, shoulder pain, leg pain have all increased.
However, he is noticing some improvements in other areas. (For instance, he can now snap his fingers, control foot movement, voice is stronger, etc.) Also, his affect has improved, more life.
He was a long time before dx., so we're trying to be patient!

I'm starting my 3rd month of the full Cowden protocol and I just added Art. I was taking abx along with the Cowden for the last 2 months and I was on abx (and 7 months of Mepron) for 20 months before that.
I didn't have any problem or herx reaction to the herbs but I am nearly well. I am about 90% better and am hopeful that this will be the last push I need.

I herxed really hard on Cumanda, and the herxes were quite delayed, starting 3 days after each rise in dose. I was able to get up to the full dose in about 3 weeks though.
Samento made me herx so badly, I had to start with just one drop, and the herxes started in about two hours after each rise in dose. Even after 3 years, I never was able to go higher than 9 drops per day, and that dose almost wiped me out. I had to take most of my dose in the morning only, as any dose of more than a drop later in the day would keep me awake all night.
The herxing from Samento made it too hard for me to do what I had to do in life, and made my Lyme Rages so much worse that it threatened my marriage, so I had to back off unless I wanted to be homeless.
I now take just 2 drops daily, as it seems to help with energy and mood, and I had a couple of bottles left. Muscle testing showed Samento was veyr good for me.
Noni and Burbur did nothing at all for me, so I went to chlorella for detox, and for me, it worked much better, though I had to increase the dose slowly and use the broken cell wall type.
I cannot take Quina, or any other quinine derivative, so that has to be taken into account here, since it is supposed to be taken early on. Quinines make me stop breathing.
I don't want to scare anyone away from Cowden, since I feel things that make you herx as much as Cumanda and Samento must be doing something....
I am probably the only person on this board who has never had any ABX at all in 22 years with Lyme (proven allergic by skin tests to all of the ABX that kill Lyme). I am sure this is one reason why the herbs were so hard on me....the pathogen load was too high.
Best of luck with your program, Klutzo

I was told that the full Cowden was overwhelming and too taxing for most patients. A modified Cowden may be more helpful in the long run for some.
It took me 3 full months to work up to 15 drops of cumanda/twice daily. I'm now up to 18 drops/twice daily and working up to 20 and will stay at that level.
Cumanda and banderol are the strongest tinctures. Burbur every 10-15 minutes during a herx is helpful.
One person I spoke to who has experience with these tinctures joked that to go on the full Cowden you would need to stay in bed with a nurse nearby.
I was given the advice to go nice and slow. Start with the cumanda and burbur. Burbur helps with the detox. Start with 1 drop of cumanda twice daily and increase by 1 drop twice daily every 5 days. That's how slow you have to go if you have a high bacterial count.
Hope this helps.

The Nutramedix Adrenal Support has wild yam in it. Wild yam is an estrogenic, and can cause major hormonal upsets for some women (dunno how it affects men).
I had 2 periods in one month after using the adrenal support for 2 months.
I switched to using a combination of dried herbs (the same ones as in the Adrenal Support) with no wild yam, and ginseng extract. This is working well for me.
My first 2 months on Cowden were very rough, with a lot of brain fog and neck and shoulder pain, and exhaustion. The wild yam didn't help, but I think I was also dealing with die off and a rush of detox.
The third month is going better.
My LLMD said this seems to be a common reaction.
I've had extensive abx and treated all known coinfections. I seem to be dealing only with Bb and the after effects of years of abx and LD.
Best of luck.

It's been a mixed bag so far for my partner. Some things are better (energy level, for example) and some things are worse (especially nerve pain in legs). She has been able to take the full dose of everything so far except the adrenal support which, as minoucat suggested, apparently packs an emotional punch.
But it does look as though we're staying with this protocol: her IV port is coming out soon.

I'm hoping to go on the protocol within the next couple of weeks.
My doctor suggested to do the limited protocol.
He also is suggesting a different adrenal support called - Adreset.
It has ginseng but no wild yam.
I don't know how it will go but I appreciate reading everyone's experiences.
Thank you.

Some of these herbs (cumanda, samento) are renamed from their original names as herbs. I don't know why Cowden & Nutramedix renamed them except for marekting purposes. A friend's son, who has had lyme for 10 years, is doing well on the modified Cowden. Does anybody know what the listed side effects or interactions are? Whether they use certain p450 pathways as drugs do or interact with drugs?

I am on the limited protocal for about two months now and I feel that it helps.
My friend is also in the full treatment and feels that she has come far.
The only problem is that if you have babs, this treatment will not hit that TBD.
