I have been on Avelox for about 6 months when I finished IV abx for the 2nd time in 3 years.
I have had some bad herxes during this time-much worse than other abx.
I assume that this means that I still have keets to kill or I wouldn't herx.
I stopped taking Avelox about a month ago with the support of my doctor due to a severe herx.
I am wondering the average time (if any)for a herx to start after starting abx again.
My symptoms seem to be worsening but I am getting ready to go to Belize for a late honeymoon.
I don't want to be sick in Belize with Lyme or a herx, especially.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Herxes are different for everyone, some people can count the clock when it is going to happen.
Some get a herx minutes after swallowing an ABX, and others like me get hit a day or 2 later. The thing that is so hard is IV abx are different...
You can be on IV and feel great on them or you feel terrible on them, herxing can last a month if you have taken alot of zithromax or flagyl!

Herxes usually begin on the fourth day of a new abx....but can happen whenever.
Be careful of serious side effects with Avelox. Make sure your "herxes" are not side effects.
Happy Honeymoon!!!!
PS...I've never heard of anyone here using Avelox for Lyme.

It all depends on the individual, but for *me and my own experience*, if I stop an antibiotic and restart it, I start herxing on the third day all over again.
Thats just *what happens to me*.
