First let me ask, how long should you give a medicine combo to work before trying something else?
The reason I ask is because I was on doxy for the last 2 months. It didn't change how I felt at all.
The first time I used that combo for about 3 weeks in August I was feeling significantly better. But since it was in the Summer my llmd (I have 2 dr's.) decided to take me off of it.
This second time of using it didn't do anything, so maybe starting and stoping and starting, wasn't a good thing? Maybe the bacteria became resilient?
Now about the Biaxin and Omnicef. What should I expect? Anyone else taking or have taken these meds? I feel hopeful because I took my first dosage of Biaxin this morning, and when I went to the grocery store I felt very lightheaded and dizzy. Worse than I've felt in a while. So I think I'm herxing! (Never thought I'd be happy to be feeling worse. )
The biaxin says take 1 pill 2X a day, but the Omnicef says 2 capsules daily (so I'm supposed to take both Omnicef capsules at the same time, not split up, right?)

You might want to call your doctor to check how he/she wants you to take the medication. When I was on biaxin/omnicef I took one of each in the morning, and the same in the evening.
I did not have any bad herx on biaxin/omnicef. But I was taking this combo after 5 1/2 months of flagyl+ketek.

Most LLMDs like you to be on an abx a minimum of 2-3 months, unless you have an adverse reaction.
I improved on omnicef with no noticeable herx. Biaxin caused an increase in pain for me, I believe it was a bartonella herx.

I have been on Biaxin/amoxi for many months. I like the combo so much I will only add to it, since my fear is if I quit, it won't work in the future..like you and Doxy.
Amoxiciilin, I herxed horribly on for months, when Biaxin was added, it actually mellowed the herx for me and I just started feeling better and better, no side effects what so ever and I love Biaxin.
Biaxin is normally taken WITH the other abx. I take Biaxin w/Amoxi morn and eve.

I've taken Biaxin+Plaquenil for 5-month stretches several times, and Biaxin+Plaquenil+Omnicef for a couple of 5-month stretches. All beneficial and continuing overall progress, after getting through the herxes that sent me to bed for a day or two every so often.
After about 5 months or so the effectiveness seemed to decline, and it was time to alternate with a different drug.
The first time i was on Biaxin+Plaquenil, I had some strong neural symptom reactions: I thought my hand and lower leg were going to be paralyzed. These were completely new symptoms, so i thought the drugs weren't working, and that i needed to go on IV to get an effective dose. But the LLMD convinced me that my hysteria was incorrect, and that even though they were completely new symptoms where the lyme hadn't manifested itself previously, that the symptoms were necessary to get through, caused by die-off, caused by toxins emitted by dying bacteria. He convinced me that the lyme had been there all along, it wasn't that they were spreading uncontrolled.
I kept rubbing the "paralyzed" hand and wrist with aloe, and it got back to normal eventually. When i'm having very mild herxes now, i still get a relapse of slight "paralysis" weakness in that hand.
