Derek, from my experience with abx and the after-effects, they seemed like their life in body was never ending. I guess to answer your question...in my opinion it's according to how long your body holds on to the dead toxins produced by the biaxin and also to how long it takes your body to detox some bad stuff out.
Abx themselves can leave toxics in your body, from the biaxin pill itself. How your body wants to deal with that stuff is not clear?

I should have read your question more closely...I got a little confused...
Your post title was "What is the half life of Biaxin" and then your post asked how long does it stay in the blood stream...
These are two different things.
Half life of a medication is the time it takes a medication to reach half of it's origal strength. (or how long it takes the body to eliminate half of the drug from the body)
I couldnt find any supporting evidence as to how long it stays in the body...I am sure that (as with the half life too) it depends on the helath status of teh person (the function of the kidneys and the ability for the kidneys to filter) and can be determinant on other medications being taken.
Sorry for not a more absolute answer...

In nonfasting healthy human subjects (males and females), peak plasma concentrations were attained within 2 to 3 hours after oral dosing. Steady-state peak plasma clarithromycin concentrations were attained within 3 days and were approximately 1 to 2 �g/mL with a 250 mg dose administered every 12 hours and 3 to 4 �g/mL with a 500 mg dose administered every 8 to 12 hours. The elimination half-life of clarithromycin was about 3 to 4 hours with 250 mg administered every 12 hours but increased to 5 to 7 hours with 500 mg administered every 8 to 12 hours. The nonlinearity of clarithromycin pharmacokinetics is slight at the recommended doses of 250 mg and 500 mg administered every 8 to 12 hours. With a 250 mg every 12 hours dosing, the principal metabolite, 14-OH clarithromycin, attains a peak steady-state concentration of about 0.6 �g/mL and has an elimination half-life of 5 to 6 hours. With a 500 mg every 8 to 12 hours dosing, the peak steady-state concentration of 14-OH clarithromycin is slightly higher (up to 1 �g/mL), and its elimination half-life is about 7 to 9 hours. With any of these dosing regimens, the steady-state concentration of this metabolite is generally attained within 3 to 4 days.

sorry guys about the mixed up question...
i wanted to ask how long it takes to reach the peak, and then, how long b4 it minmimizes.
the reason i asked is because before i switch biaxin out for ceftin because (i am on levaquin) i wanted to try to gauge how far apart i should take them...
but its kind of a dead issue because im starting the ceftin tomorrow, and, levaquin stays in the "system" 24 hrs so thats why u take it once a day 500 mg (according to my dr)
