It has been suggested that perhaps I try prednisone to see if I feel better. If I have lyme and possible co-infect. would it hurt my system to take prednisone or another steroid?
Thanks again,
Bill

When I first got ill back in July 2005 it started with severe mid back pain. The Dr. prescribed a 10 day course of prednisone. What was not known was I had lyme.
The short 10 day course of prednisone was responsible for my slide into severe decline. It would take one year, two visits to an ALS clinic and over 20 more Dr. visits before I found out that I had lyme not ALS or dying. During that year I was so sick I thought I was dying.
I blame the short 10 day prednisone for this. If you read Dr. Burrascano's guidelines 2005, it's a real no, no, to give a suspected lyme patient any type of steriods.

I would NOT take steroids unless you are in a situation where you cannot breathe.
I just went thru that with my son at the hosp. I called his lyme dr, he was given a shot and a med pack but his oxygen level was so low we had no choice.
In my opinion take only if you are in serious respitory distress and you aren't responding to breathing treatments.

Exactly. Don't take the chance of making your Lyme untreatable!!!!!
Steroids will make the Lyme tougher to "cure."
Many are here BECAUSE they were given steroids. Not knowing they had Lyme, they didn't know not to take them.
Don't do it! Did I say that enough??

Steroids weaken the immune system and allow infections to take a stronger hold. If you have Lyme, prednisone will most likely make it a lot worse.

I actually think I was given a short dose of steroids a while back but either way I'll certainly avoid them now.
