I want to ramp up my Bicillin. So far I'm doing 1.2mu every three days (plus Mepron/Zith at regular full dose... and adding Humaworm and small dose Artemisinin to the mix too).

I want to do 3 injevtions a week, totalling 3.6 mu/week.

My question is this: Should I....

A.) Do one 1.2mu shot every two days so it's evenly spaced out.

OR

B.) Do 2 injections (2.4 mu) for the first 4 days of the week (one on each cheek [Wink] ), and then 1 injection for the last 3 days of week. Then repeat.

A) plan seems more intuitive to me. But B) plan seems to be more popular, from what I've heard so far.

My LLMD hasn't approved this increase and I don't think he'll exactly agree with my approach-- wants to focus on Babs. And he's not too aggressive.

But I can tolerate Bicillin relatively well and I'm in a blasting mood lately; I feel like fighting HARD after the new year. Plus I was able to score some free injections from a highly generous support group member.

Strange thing lately: I actually feel better on 2 shots of Bicillin/week than may usual one shot. (I had to temporarily decrease when I started Babs treatment.) I rarely herx on the stuff, only 4-5 days a month.

Also found out that I have brain damage, so I want to hit the CNS hard and I know Bicillin is good for that.
Opinions please?

I am on Bicillin LA 1.2 3 times per week. I just picked 3 days of the week and I give my shots on those days - Monday, Wednesday, Saturday.

I don't think it needs to be complicated. I'm not sure about giving 2.4 in one day and then skipping 4 days to give the next shot. To me, the constant of 1.2 every 2 or 3 days is good. Sometimes, I try to give it Monday night, Wednesday night and Saturday morning, so that the time from Wednesday to Saturday is only 2.5 days, but I don't stress about it.

I have forgotten to give the shot a few times and I just give it the next day and alter my week a bit.

I would at least talk to your doctor about going to 1.2 3 times per week, instead of just doing it.

I would not jump that much in that short amount of time, work up to it.

Ellie,
You have mentioned in previous posts that your pain level is so high you are now on Duragesic patches and it isn't helping. Why in the world do you want to make things worse?

Pain does NOT equal Gain! Has either LLMD checked your inflammation levels to see how high they are. Inflammation caused from die off toxins is not good and with me, I will back down when inflammation is high.

Bicillin is a tough drug & kills deep and good. One shot remains in your system 28 days.

You are on some heavy hitters, why do you want to go up to 3 per week? The azithro on its own is rough and last long in the blood.

I have learned the hard way to stay with what I am somewhat functional on. If you are ok on 2 shots per week, why not stay there?

Did Dr. B or S recommend this? If Dr. B did, better ask Dr. S if he agrees or vice versa, especially if you are seeing both still. Allow whomever you are seeing to set your protocol for you, don' t ramp without being told to do so and do NOT mix 2 LLMD's protocols!

Aggressive is not always the answer - did you see this recent site I posted? Scroll down beyond intro to read this article; http://www.personalconsult.com/articles/aggressivelymetxfailure.html

Slow and steady - this takes time, time and more time and there is still no guarantees. Chronic LD patients, Burrascano says 3-5 years to wellness. Dr. S says 30% will not get well at all.

Adding more abx doesn't mean you will get well any faster, instead it could cause injury. Read the link above.

If you mean your SPECT scan showed abnormalities, that would be the case with most of us, did one of the LLMD's actually call it "brain damage"? If it is " brain damage" nothing will cure brain damage that I am aware of.

Better talk to one/both of the doctors. I don't think anyone here is qualified to answer this for you, because everyone responds different

i have to agree with lymebytes on this one. too much too fast can do way more damage than good. be careful with your body, girl. it's hurting right now.

much love.

hmmm... some good thoughts here. thanks everyone.

lymebytes: i guess i misused the term "brain damage." what i meant was a pretty sad SPECT report. i kinda freaked out after seeing it.

it just surprised me too how i started to feel actually better-- not worse-- when i doubled my bicillin during babs treatment. it was like my body needed it. (i had been on 2.4mu/wk scedule before babs tx started.)

and you are right dana that my pain has been through the roof. i am still trying to find a pain management plan that works. (yesterday was pretty good though [Smile] )

strange this is: while my pain has gotten much worse lately, my other symptoms have gradually improved to the point where i can actually do some normal person activities. i'm not sure if the pain is just pain or part of a herx.

anyway, it's really hard to leave lyme alone while treating co's. it scares me.

okay, okay, i will talk to doc first. [Big Grin]

if you do one in each hip (2.4) MU that should last a week at least.

Most patients do 1.2 MU every 3 days.
Be careful and good luck! Bicillin is great stuff especially when combined with other meds.
