I'm wondering if the numbness from LD can present in a compartmentalized fashion?

Also, does the numbness persist for a long time? It seems w/ MS, people have flares that come and go.....

My numbness has never gone away since it started 8/07- it has very gradually increased and spread to new areas.

For instance, my numbness includes:

4 fingers and the edge of my hand (below where the pinky ends), not thumb side

front of torso, just below my breasts to just below my belly button- it reaches to my sides, but stops at my back

front of shins, knees, thighs- it reaches to the inner part of my leg (esp inner part of knee), but not the back of legs

soles of feet and toes- not the tops

the underside of my forearms- not the top

I get numbness in various "compartmentalized" areas as well. 2 fingers on my left hand (pinky/ring finger), skin on the top of my nose, front of scalp and back of scalp, but not top of my head, arch of my foot, usually one side or the other never at the same time...

With treatment my numbness, however, comes and goes. Been on Doxy about 3 months and the numbness has improved. But it does come back from time to time.

What meds are you on? Perhaps your treatment is not strong enough? Or you have a co-infection?

The fact that your numbness is not going away is worth a trip to the doctor I think.

Do you have improvement with your other symptoms? I don't know your history...

I had numbness in different places. Kind of overall on left side. My pain perception was off and a couple times I burned myself cooking because I was touching hot things without care as I had such a high tolerance.

My nose and face got numb. For me the numbness was one of many symptoms and not high on the list.

I don't have it anymore after 16 months of rotating different abx.

Sorry you are dealing with this. Hope it will resolve soon. Hang in there.

P.S. I would say most of my symptoms were compartmentalized and moved around. I was mostly
glad they were moving to give the arm or whatever was having trouble a break. But at same
time unnerving.
