Has anyone out there been able to get any relief from stiff neck and headaches. I just started taking magnesium pills a couple days ago but don't see any relief yet.

If you can find a great Chiropractor this can help somewhat.
My osteopath does an orthopedic manipulation that really helped.
Also eliminating h/a triggering foods. For me sugar, gluten, and anything processed makes my h/a's worse.
Cranial/Sacral therapy helped.
Bromelain (from pineapples) helped with the inflammation in my neck.
This are small things but every little bit helped ease the pain somewhat. hth

Trish --
For temporary relief, I tried this a couple of weeks ago for a stiff neck, and it worked.
I bought one of those ThermaCare heat patches that you use for a sore back and put it on my neck. Sometimes it would get too hot, and I would have to take it off for a little bit, but then I would put it back on my neck and it really helped.
It stays warm for 8 hours. Maybe it would work for you.

Trish,
You have already gotten some good suggestions, some of which I have used successfully.
I also use pain meds, for me tramadol works. I've used heat on my neck/shoulders.
Sometimes I have used rice socks. They are simple to make. Take a tube sock and fill with uncooked rice, leaving enough room to tie a knot at the top.
It should not be stuffed, but have room to move it around and adjust to fit where you want to use it.
Then put it in the microwave for a minute or so (check to be sure it's not too hot). It will provide moist heat for quite some time.
I used to keep one draped around my neck and it really helped loosen up the muscles. When it cooled off I could always put it back in the microwave, if I needed more relief.
I know some people find ice helps, but it never worked for me. It only made my muscles tighter, so I stuck with forms of heat.
The other thing that has really helped me is massage therapy.
Good luck!

Thank you for all of your answers! I am definetely going to try some of these things out. The therma care seems like the best idea for me since I know it works real well on my stomach cramps.
Thanks again!

Ultimately, I think the tx for Bb and coinfections should help. In the meantime, - lots of good suggestions here.
Cranial/sacral really helps me, but be sure to get a gentle technique and not the snap and crack type.
the type of magnesium can make the difference. there are a few that work better than others.
I like magnesium glycinate with malic acid. A liquid mag may work faster (tastes bad, but you can chase it with lots of good clear water or lemon water, etc.)
Keeping your head and neck warm at night helps. I have an old scarf/hood that is cozy.

Like a lot of people I used to have a very stiff and sore neck/shoulders/back. As I battled with my Lyme disease the symptoms have almost completely gone. I found magnesium citrate taken to bowel tolerance to be tremendously helpful. If you have low Vit D you may have trouble absorbing magnesium.

Had a stiff neck early on. Chiropractic adjustments help relieve it temporarily. Then I also use heat - hot showers, heat wraps.
Also, clindamycin worked for me for 6 months. During that time, all muscle pain went down, including in the neck. So I guess it's still related to seeing if you can find effective Lyme treatment.

Lots of good suggestions.
I think I have tried them all with some success. Massage works the best for me. I seem to build up lactic acid knots in my shoulders and upper back.
My therapist breaks those up and I sound like bubble wrap popping. I drink lots of water the rest of the day to flush out what she has broken loose.
With her help (weekly) I stay painfree in my neck. I do have Babs and am hopeful treatment will resolve the issue. Dr is currently using Amoxycillan and Biaxin for my Babs. She tried IVs of MTE's which are herbal formulas but I just couldn't make the 3 1/2 hr trip every week and not even every other week. She was doing these in hopes of knocking down the Babs load so I would not have to be on Mepron so long. So, I guess Mepron is in my future.
Massage therapist gives me a good break in price because I see her so often.
