I am reading a lot of schools have been closed in New England. I know a restaurant closed here because patrons got sick as well as most of the staff.

That's exactly how a relative described it. All of the sudden and with such a force . . . very ill for several days.
It might be good for all of us to have certain foods set aside just in case we need something simple and nutritious - after the initial phase resolves. Green powders, frozen carrot juice, broths, etc. Canned pumpkin.
I find slippery elm powder great for that. Mix a little with cool water and add hot water for a tea. Ginger tea might help, too.
Electrolyte replacement drinks could really help, too. A little lemon juice and salt in water might do in a pinch.

Oh, I had that last winter after not having it in many years. I had taken care of my elderly father, who got over it much quicker than I did.
Yup, both ends at once, but while the up-chucking left quickly, the other side just kept going and going and going...I was totally unprepared and had to call a relative to leave some Immodium on my front porch. I probably should have been in the hospital on IV. I did not question whether I was going to die, just when.
Definitely keep a bottle of ginger ale or cola on hand, plus Saltines, some tea and whatever Jello flavor you like, and chicken soup or boullion. And extra toilet paper. And definitely disinfect your house/doorknobs/sheets/phone etc. after ward and throw out your old toothbrush.
My town was one of the New England ones that closed its grammar school for awhile (finally, something that makes sense). I always have had a terrible fear I'd get this on an airplane.
