I am on Zithro 500 mg to do an abx challenge. I'm on day 5 and I don't know if I'm herxing, but I am SO weak and I am having the worst shortness of breath. Also, I am severely nauseous and clammy.

Does anyone know if this is a herx? I just feel so terrible...I hope I feel a little better on Christmas Day. [Frown]

Any ideas how to help this at all? I don't even have enough strength to take an epsom salt bath. Ugh.

It could be. I've had that feeling before definitely. [Frown] Especially the feeling like you're going to pass out. I had that quite a lot.

I hope you do have a much better day on Christmas. [group hug]

Have you considered electrical hypersensitivities/microwave sickness?

I was getting dizzy spells in my house, especially in the shower. I also got one major dizzy spell in my neighbor's house.

I measured the magnetic fields in our homes with a gaussmeter. My home is higher than most. My neighbor's is so high, I'm surprised she can walk.

If you have a cordless phone or cell phone, you might want to see if by not using them, your symptoms improve. I still can get dizzy spells, even when I'm not on antibiotics.

"I am SO weak and I am having the worst shortness of breath. Also, I am severely nauseous"

I get this.I also get the lightheaded or dizzy thing too. For me I think it is babs related ...but that is just what I guess.

Hope you feel better soon [group hug]

How early is it in your treatment? It could well be a "herx", especially if you've started (proper) treatment in the past 3 months.
It could also be your reaction to abx; sometimes the two are a little hard to tell apart.
Best Wishes
May the new year bring you
health and all kinda good sh..tuff.

Hi

My abx challenge was 500 MG of Flagyl and 500 MG of Biaxin 3x a day. I made it to the third dose and thought I would die: chills, nausea, weakness, just an over all horrible feeling. My LLMD told me as soon as I herxed to stop the meds and take benadryl for 2-3 days which I did? How long does your abx challenge last? Mine was for 3 days but as I mentioned, I only made it through the first day.

Good luck!

Sounds like you stirred something up.

Lyme? Babesia?

My husband did the flagyl/biaxin challenge after voluntarily stopping treatment

About 6 months ago. Was not a pretty sight.

Call your LLMD. If he thinks it is a herx than you can probably stop the challenge

And go to a more manageable dosage of antibiotics.

Hugs,

Geneal

I have not started to treat anything. I am feeling a little bit better, I think it's because I started with methyl b-12 shots. They do help.

I also have started taking benadryl to sleep at night because I haven't been sleeping which only makes me weaker.

My abx challenge lasts for 30 days...and at 21 days I will get more blood drawn for another WB test from Igenex.

Also, I was severely nauseous and realized I hadn't really had anything to eat, so that made me weaker.
