I cannot believe this poor girl has Lyme!! As soon as they said arthritis, I thought "maybe she has Lyme:. Then when they stated she had a rash and fever and no one knew what was wrong, I turned to my husband and said, "she has Lyme!".
This is so wonderful to spread the news about this disease. I hope this girl can seek out appropriate treatment.

Did they diagnose her with Lyme on the acutal show?

Sorry, I wasn't being clear. I was posting as if EVERYONE had seen this! Yes, she has positive tests for Lyme. No, she was not diagnosed on the actual show with Lyme, but had previous positive tests.
Great, I just watched the end and it stated that "her doctors cannot agree on what her actual diagnosis is".
Typical doctors go and screw it up. She is positive for Lyme. And she has a severe addiction to pain meds.
The girl said it was her body and she didn't want to be treated for Lyme....sad.

I just watched the show and I cried through much of it. Her mother researched and got her a Lyme test, which turned out POSITIVE.
Then, the whole family goes and blames her for being in pain and depending on pain medication. When her sister's baby was born her mother curtly cut her off on the phone and she wasn't invited to the birth.
Her twin sister disinvited her from being a bridesmaid at her wedding and she was heartbroken but came to the wedding graciously, anyway.
Her sister said she didn't want her sister to be "hobbling" down the aisle and ruining her day.
If her mother researched Lyme disease then why the heck doesn't she know enough about what to do for her daughter??
Oh, I know, she looked at IDSA websites.
At the beginning of the show the father said that Brooke didn't want to pursue any treatment for Lyme disease because her doctors had told her she had arthritis and she believed them and followed duck advice rather than learning about and treating her Lyme.
The way she hobbled around looking like pure agony broke my heart.
She is a girl who knows nothing about Lyme, has had it for several years untreated, her family knows Lyme is a possibility and yet they pursue drug addiction and psych ward treatment and endlessly discuss how her problems are ruining THEIR lives.
Let's just say my husband and I were very frustrated and angered by this show.
Is there any way someone could reach this girl? She's only 26. She was very athletic in school and it's heartbreaking to see what Lyme and excess pain relievers are doing to her.
At the intervention, when she agreed to go into treatment, her family was elated that she was going to get that "sparkle" back and be herself again. She was going to get "all better". My foot.
Well, that's my take on it. Feeling helpless and angry again.

Gahhhh....this show just broke my heart into little smithereens.
I had that wild false hope at first...oh wow, I thought, they're actually talking about LYME! ACCURATELY!
But of course I had read the post here so I knew what to expect . . .
To be thisclose to the answer and then veer away is so frustrating for me to watch.
Maybe once this girl stays clean and clear for a fair length of time she will be able to revisit the Lyme issue. It's hard to do much of any straight thinking on the amount of narcotics she was taking.
But (frustrated me talking again) how is she supposed to not take any pain meds when she is obviously so riddled with Lyme?!?!?!?!
Gahhhhhh.
This, and I'm only a quarter way through the program so far. I don't know if I can even bear to watch the rest.

I still don't understand WHY people are so afraid of treating Lyme Disease. My goodness, if she had Cancer festering in her body, she'd be on chemo or radiation asap.
I can't imagine getting a POSITIVE test for anything in my body and just ignoring it...any research would indicate to her that the repurcussions could cost her "her life".
I would have killed for a positive Elisa or Western Blot to validate my suspicions. It wasn't until an LLMD clincially diagnosed me and then Igenex supported his gut feeling.
I cried tears of relief when he said he was certain I had Lyme Disease. It was so validating that I wasn't the weak, crazy or hypochondriac so many people thought.
I just don't relate to the "ignorance is bliss" theory at all. It's such an incredible shame.

Hey, does anyone know if or when this episode will be repeated? I heard about it from a friend but, missed the airing Monday night.
I would love to see it or even order a copy if possible.

I just happened onto Intervention the other night, having never seen it before. This story broke my heart and when there was a mention that she had tested positived for Lyme, I couldn't believe my ears. When this girl started having problems which was years ago, I don't think Lyme was nearly as out front as it is now. And it AIN'T there enough by any means.
I went on the A&E Intervention message boards to read more about her and ironically, this particular episode got more mail, postings, etc. than any other has ever gotten.
I'm not sure this girl will make it, but if you want to read more about it, just google A&E and then Intervention. There's some interesting postings. All of them aren't real intelligent. My heart goes out to this girl.
Ignorance abounds when it comes to Lyme Disease as you will see from a lot of the postings.

I saw this show, and it is still haunting me. Her family kept saying that they "just wanted their little girl back." You know.....she probably wants that more than anything, too! But she's sick! Her parents tried to have her committed. Why not give her loving support for her serious illness instead? My gosh. She was clearly in enormous pain, and barely able to function.
The conclusion of the show did not offer much hope. She ended up agreeing to go in 90 days of drug treatment. I doubt that is going to cure her lyme or chronic pain....
