I have to take 500 mg zith beginning tomorrow, along with the bicillin shots I have been taking for 4 months now. I have a cold/flu, should Iwait till I get over this cold to begin the zithormax, and when should I take the zithromax? Jenin

No idea re wait or not but make sure you get some good probiotics and take them- Zith is heck on the tummy & GI tract for many people!!! Was not for me but is for many!!! But it is a POWWERFUL drug, GREAT stuff!!

My doc said to start with 250mg/zith in the morning, and another 250mg at night. But you should ask your doctor to be sure.
Be sure to load up on probiotics!
Personally, I would wait until the cold/flu is past its peak before starting a new treatment -- because colds/flu can be so miserable and I hit them with all sorts of stuff, like extra garlic, Vit.C, andrographis, even tried Umca (sp) Coldcare with my last cold! Take care.

Zith can cause hearing loss, so be careful.

yeah, I am going to wait till I get over this cold, load up on probiotics (I am making homemeade yogurt with billions of cfu),. I have tinnitus, and now am concerned zith will make it even worse. Any ideas? how long do you guys stay on zith?

I'm supposed to start Zithromax next week (with Mepron) also. My first Babesia/Lyme treatments. I have major tinnitus as well, and vertigo/dizziness, and am worried about Zithromax affecting my ears.
Savebabe-- was your hearing affected?

Just remember if you get ear ringing with the zith to call your LLMD.
It (ear ringing) can cause permanent hearing loss.
I had this problem on zith.
I also could not take mine with a meal. Had to take it about one hour after.
It gave me horrible stomach aches with meals.
Good luck.
