I've read that blood spikes of antibiotic are more lethal than constant low levels of Abx. So I'm wondering if you are on 400mg of doxy per day, would it be better to take a 300mg dose in the morning and then 100mg evening, instead of the typical evenly split doses?

I do 300mg of doxy a day.

One in the morning and two in the evening.

That is to decrease possible sun sensitivity issues.

I think it is better (at 400mg) to try to take the pills at the same time daily.

To keep an even amount of antibiotics in system...

Hugs,

I have read that it is better to take high doses of doxy at a time as well. I am not a doctor, but I can tell you that when I was taking 100mg in the morning and 100mg at night, it wasn't doing much for me, but now that I have upped it to 200mg, I seem to feel a difference.

Take a look at Dr. B's suggestions, I believe he says that doxy works better in strong doses, and amox works better at a consistent level.

Best of luck.

From what I understand the larger dose should be taken in the morning, 200mg in the morning,100mg in the evening.

Wouldn't 300 mg. make you very nauseous? I took 200 mg. this a.m. with a little food and felt very sick to my stomach.

I have no problem stomaching 300mg in the morning.

I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this split (300mg morning and 100mg evening) as a method to spike blood antibiotic levels...which are persumably more lethal to LD. After all, isn't that what IV drugs do...spike the concentration of drug into the blood?

I take doxy 200 mg twice daily, and yes, it does make me nauseous a bit. I take it an hour after food (at least 2 hours away from milk, vitamins, and supplements) I drink plenty of water - at least a glass or two. I sometimes take a nystatin for yeast, although cumanda drops seem to help with that. I also eat plain yogurt and take a probiotic.

Doxy is the only abx I can tolerate. Amoxicillin and azithromycin are too hard on me. I was able to ramp up the doxy from 100mg twice daily to double that dose within a week.

The doxy cleared my head and gave me 10% more energy. However, it didn't get rid of the intermittent burning skin, fatigue, and flulike malaise. I've been on it 5 weeks and still waiting for the miracle.

I can take doxy with no problem even on an empty stomach.
I take 200 mgs in morn and night.

BUT this morning, I took it with a Vit A&D and Calcium/Mag and in 20 mins I was sick to my stomach and throwing up. I also felt like hell all day.
I was a little too cocky with taking it and feeling well.
