I spent countless hours on this site several years ago. We received invaluable infomation from members here at that time.
Our 10-year-old, Eddie, was infected when he was 5. As the story often goes, we're still working on it.
We've enjoyed some nice symptom-free periods, but this was false hope. Eddie's been home-bound since Thanksgiving.
I've been so fascinated by the intelligent debate over conventional vs. alternative on this site. I don't find it offensive when people disagree with me, just interesting.
We've been giving antibiotics a go for so long now without lasting results, that it has led us to explore additional therapies.
Right now we're using combinations (not all at the same time) of antibiotics, Stephen Bruhner protocol and rife. Since we've started the Bruhner protocol we're seeing improvement. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks to all of you seasoned lymies. I've been reading the encouragement you give to newbies and to eachother, and it just warms my heart.
I'll try to keep my posts much shorter in the future.

I'm sorry you're back here with discouraging news about your son.
Does he have a 504 or an IEP?
My teen daughter has a 504 with homebound service. She was absent all of last year with no homebound. She's currently behind 11 weeks in one subject this year (English). She's a little over 4 weeks behind in math now.
Our school system has been very difficult to work with. I encourage you to contact your state special ed parent education organization, even if you don't think you need special ed.
Many children with Lyme qualify for Other Health Impaired classification and can have an IEP...a detailed personalized education plan. It's federal law if you meet the requirements, no matter what the school tells you.
I have 6 children; 5 have Lyme & coinfections. My husband and I have it too. Life is a challenge, but we're moving forward and rolling with the punches. I'm thankful I know what we're dealing with!

Wow! What a story. I am full to the brim with empathy for you. Thank you for using your experiences to help others - like me.
Our son is in the homebound program. Except for a few unfriendly school secretaries, we've had a very good experience with the school system.
Our son's homebound tutor is his real teacher, so it's a blessing. He's missed so much school over the years, it's ridiculous. He's doing relatively well with keeping up, but this will get harder as he gets older.
I've decided I'm going to focus all energy on getting him well, and I won't be distracted by worries of him falling behind.
