We have invited Dr. R. from NY to speak at the April 28th luncheon meeting at the Rotary Club of Providence. He will be speaking for about 50 minutes and we are opening the meeting to the public.
Cost is $25 for lunch and speaker. Part of the proceeds are being donated to Columbia's Research Center or possibly the LDF. The remaining $17 covers lunch. Also, donations will be accepted towards Columbia or our charity of choice. (We are still working this out).
There will be 80 seats for non-Rotarians and we are hoping to have some docs from local hospitals attend.
Email [email protected] if you are interested. Advanced reservations and payment are required.
Also, the significance of this is that Rotary is becoming a Lyme advocate / activist association. If they helped to eradicate polio from the world, what else can they do? Here is a link to their website to see what Rotary is about

Ack! That's a Monday! Probably the worst day of the week for me to try to get to this. I'll see what I can do though.
I can think of at least three or four RI doctors I'd like to have attend though... grrr.....
Let me know if there will be fliers or something available that I can send to some of my former physicians...
Can you get the former Mayor to attend? Now that he's back on the air maybe he'd throw the event a little publicity and get the topic of lyme front and center where it needs to be.
Just a thought.

Very good point! I haven't looked at Rotary's press release list yet, but I think it is pretty extensive. We are writing up the press release now.
We will be making fliers eventually. I hope you can come and bring 'em all. I'll write a sick note for you I told the doc that there would be docs there and he thought it was all the better!
I will try to remember to let you know when there are fliers, but if you remember, PM me in a couple of weeks and hopefully they will be done by then??

I'll absolutely try to remember to pm you in a few weeks. Seriously, if you could get Buddy to attend I think it would be huge.
My guess is that there are a huge number of RI residents who are afflicted with lyme and don't know it and that those who do know it are treating it out of state.
My GP was reluctant to send a referral for me to the RI Hospital Lyme Clinic because I didn't have a positive test, but when I contacted them they said it was not necessary. She eventually sent the referral but I can just imagine how it read.
I never heard from them. Imagine that. Though in all fairness I'm not aware of anyone who's been treated at that clinic so treatment there could be good for all I know.
