Hi,

My LLMD has suggested I try Lamictal (15-25mg 2x day) in addition to the Lyrica to help manage my seizure type symptoms.

Anyone else take Lamictal for seizures? In conjunction with Lyrica?

Best wishes,

OK...A blog, then:

Woke up, took my Lyrica. 50 minutes later, I took 12.5mg Lamictal.

Noticed a difference almost right away. Something felt different in my head, then I noticed muscles relaxing on left side, and that my gait was improving.

Took the other half (now 25mg).

I didn't take any acetamenophen or muscle relaxants so far today.

Then Wham! Around noon when I take my next Lyrica, I started getting the weirdest headache, like something is very wrong headache. Body pain. Beginnings of the seizures.

Took next Lyrica. Stumbled into bed. A little while later I sensed a shift in my head. Soon after, pain gone. Exhausted as usual after seizure activity, but will Prevail! and let you know once I get the dosing right.

Still no muscle relaxants or acetamenophen so far...I'd been taking nearly the max or the max of the relaxants every day, and some aceta. to boot.

Yes, my teen has taken that combination for non-epileptic seizures....a movement disorder.

It didn't help. He recently increased the dose and we're waiting to see if it helps.

Blog:

Definitely less sensitivity to light!

Definitely less pain!

It's 4PM, and I still haven't taken a muscle relaxant or acetamenophen...

hshbmom: I'm so glad they're trying something to help manage the symptoms for your son. Please keep us posted; it's been so stressful for you all, I know. I'm sorry I haven't been more on top of communicating with members sometimes, but you all know it's 3 full-time jobs.

princesslee:

I'll get back to this in a bit.

Best wishes,

Day 2:

I woke up feeling physically stronger than I have in a long time.

Didn't have even ONE Muscle Relaxant NOR Acetamenophen ALL DAY YESTERDAY.

This is astonashing, and appalling that despite repeated attempts to have a neurologist seriously consider the possibility of seizures, NONE DID.

I have been SUFFERING for - I'm in my fifth year of disability. Sold house, sports car (hobby: keeping it running; so much fun!), winter car. Gave up apartment, on disability etc., etc.

Some pain in right shoulder where it is exposed to some light.

Will keep you updated.

Princess:

Here is a link that describes the seizures:

Well, around 4:30 PM, as the Lamictal began to wear off...

And I have to add that I _overdid_ it, of course, because I felt so much more capable.

Anyway, I had a seizure. Was falling asleep with my head on the sink waiting for my next installment of vomiting.

That said, still no acetamenophen or muscle relaxants. I'm going to up the dose tomorrow AM; I do feel this Lamictal is nothing to play with, because my seizure threshold is going up, and then the events are more powerful, in some ways.

But afterwards, I must say, I don't have the same complete muscle weakness. I should add that after the vomiting, I went to bed and fell asleep / passed out. What was unusual was that I work up with both arms numb, and I had to shake them "awake".

We'll see how Day 3 goes...

Best wishes, [group hug]
