I just recently took a month of doxycycline (self-treated) for an antibiotic challenge test.

I'm re-doing my Igenex western blot 14 days after stopping the doxy in hopes that it'll turn my indetermine bands to positive ones if I do have lyme.

If I have a PCR for mycoplasma done at the same time, will 14 days be long enough after the doxy for the infection to "re-emerge" and show up on the test?

I'm not quite sure how mycoplasma infections or PCR tests actually work, or how one month doxy would affect it if it's a chronic infection. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

In all my research on Myco's I have never seen the same concept noted for Bb testing applying to Myco's. Someone else may have but I sure havent.

From my understanding/interpretatoins, you have to do at least 9 months continuous tx for myco's so I dont see how it would help or deter or alter testing but it may affect tx!!

Other understanding is once you start it is absolutely best not to stop so, if it were me, I would start back immediately following the test.

Not something i would mess with at all.

If someone else knows something different, chime in!!!

I am not a MD or LLMD or anytype of dr this is solely off my own research and in my own opinion and interpretations of research!!!!!!
