Is it common to have children with opposite symptoms?

My 6yod has odd aches and pains that come and go like the wind. Very lovable, quiet, needs lots of sleep. Seems to be learning at appropriate grade level. (++ on 41 Igenex only)

My 8yos has no pain, (so he says)Can't stand to be touched, shows little affection, stutters, stammers, paces the floor at 6am. Regression in academics. Poor comprehension, asks a gazillion hypothetical questions a day, but if you ask him a question he can't answer.
(+ on 30,45,58,and double ++ on 41)

Neither have been "officially" diagnosed yet.

thoughts?

Both my children have lyme from birth and have some over lapping symptoms and symptoms that are unique to each child. My 5 year old daughter has joint pain, wereas her 4 year old brother has balance and coordination issues. Daughter is extremely sensitive or emotional (cries at almost nothing) wereas her brother has rages. Yes opposites symptoms is true in our case. I guess like in adults it is hard to find to adults who's symptoms are exactly alike, it would also be true in children.

Yes, all three of my kids have Lyme and coinfections and all three have different manifestations. One had a lot of Gastro, one had a lot of sleep and personality issues , one had a chronic cough and pain. Symptoms are endless and each kid is different just liek each adult can have different symptoms. Living through this make sure your kids have all Igenex tests done and MDL tests done and even then things can be mixed. Treat for confections first along with the Lyme.

My (then) 5 year old had fatigue, headaches, complaints of

Nausea constantly, joint pain, etc.

My (then) 3 year old I believe to be congenital.

His symptoms were more obscure.

Balance issues, difficulty breathing at birth, hole in his heart, red pinnas,

Failure to meet physical milestones, etc.

They were truly opposite. However, both have improved significantly with treatment.

Hugs,

Geneal

Yes, my two kids have been affected SO differently. Both were bit and dx w/ lyme in June 05. DS resolved on 6 week course of amox. DD never resolved. She had undx Babesia.

I think that the different symptoms have to do with a few different factors:
1) where they are bit
2) how quickly the buggers disseminate and where they "land"
3) physical constitution of the individual
4) possibility of co-infections or other physical problems

DOn't forget Lyme is the great imitator--it can look like almost anything.

Both of my kids picked up lyme congentially by me. I never saw a tick on them, nor me for that matter.

Yes... red pinnas on occasion with my 8yo, and uncoordination. He at 8 still can't figure out how to swing on a swing set. He learns best auditory, workbook pages are intimidating.

6yo said today her right foot was "beeping" like someone was tapping her. Also has to eat small meals every 2 hours or her tummy "hurts so bad".

It seems to be a new symptom every week....

Thanks for the replies

Both of my kids are positive as well. My 8 year

old boy has headaches, neck pain, speech

problems, very uncoordinated...so would like to

hear more specifically what your son's

coordination issues are so I could compare..

My 6 yr old daughter doesn't seem to have any

symptoms, but had the most bands light up on her

IgeneX results. Go figure huh?

Laura,

Tad might chime in about her son's uncoodination.

My ds 8yo trips alot, can't get the hand of bouncing a basketball, swinging. His gait is not quite normal, his feet get caught on eachother.

he is also left eye dominant, not sure if this affects anything. Right now we have him in archery class, and gym classes with other homeschoolers.

The symptoms that affect him the most are his speech issues. He squits is eyes, exagerates his mouth movements, and closes his eyes when trying to get the words out. He stammered really bad at 3yo, got better for a little while now progressivley getting worse.

Hi Laura,

My son was always constantly falling and hitting his head. Thankfully he inherited a hard head from his mother LOL. He walked around the first 4 years of his life with either a goose egg or a bruise on his forhead. He would trip over his own feet alot, and never had the coordination to get his handout in front of him, those his head always hitting first. He also hates to swing would actually panic. He also didn't seem to have any idea where his body ended (if that makes any sense) would always walk into the corner of things, walls, tables, chairs etc. For him alot of these things have improve, way more agile and the cost of bandaids in the house has gone way down which is a bonus.
