Watching the Grammys tonight after George Lopez's introduction for the song "Ticks", I thought I misunderstood the title. After hearing the country singer sing the song, I called my 12 year old son in and asked him to listen. I didn't hear all of the words to the song, but the back of the stage were large neon ticks as the country singer sang "I want to check you for ticks". Heard the word woods in the song and it was upbeat. Me and my son have been chronic and on antibiotic for nearly four years. Am wondering if Hollywood or anyone else could be recognizing there's a problem, or maybe I'm looking too deep and a country singer wrote the song to rhyme the words, nothing more. Just curious if anyone else caught it.

The song is Actually Called "I'd Like to check you for ticks" by Brad Pasley. My hubby has his CD.
It's about him wanting to take the girls cloths off and run his hand all over her "Checking her for Ticks".
Cute song - but its about him wanting to get in her pants. Sorry

Yeah, I could not believe they were flashing hundreds of neon ticks during Paisley's song at the Grammy's! Seemed kind of surreal for this lymie.
Hopefully, they backed it up with some educational material in the lobby Posts: 2557 | From home | Registered: Aug 2006

This song had been discussed I believe in the general section when it first came out. I'm not a huge country fan but also saw the Grammy's.
As kbholley says, it really isn't a song about "ticks" as much as getting her clothes off, but doubt he has any idea remotely about the seriousness of the disease when mentioning "ticks".
So as much as we could only hope that this would help bring awareness, it's done too tongue in cheek for that. Sorry.

Hi tutu! Ah yes, we can dream....
ANY tick awareness is probably good, even in a weird totally sexualized song about tick checks!

I have to admit I would have freaked if I saw ticks all over the screen..LOL. I did see Daryl Hall in the front row though. I know he went through Hell after being bit here in CT. It was nice to see him there.

very time you take a sip In this smoky atmosphere You press that bottle to your lips And I wish I was your beer An' In the small there of your back Your jeans are playing peek-a-boo I'd like to see the other half of your butterfly tattoo.
Hey that gives me an idea Let's get out of this bar Drive out into the country And find a place to park.
'Cause I'd like to see you out in the moonlight I'd like to kiss you way back in the sticks I'd like to walk you through a field of wildflowers And I'd like to check you for ticks.
I know the perfect little path Out in these woods I used to hunt Don't worry babe I've got your back And I've also got your front I'd hate to waste a night like this I'll keep you safe you wait and see The only thing allowed to crawl all over you when we get there is me.
You know every guy in here tonight Would like to take you home But I've got way more class than them Babe that ain't what I want.
'Cause I'd like to see you out in the moonlight I'd like to kiss you way back in the sticks I'd like to walk you through a field of wildflowers And I'd like to check you for ticks.
An' oooo You never know where one might be An' oooo There's lots of places that are hard to reach yeah I* been there I gotcha.
I'd like to see you out in the moonlight I'd like to kiss you baby way back in the sticks I'd like to walk you through a field of wildflowers And I'd like to check you for ticks.
And I'd sure like to check you for ticks...

When I first saw this posted here in medical I thought....
What the heck is that doing in medical!???
However I read the thread and I see why someone would think this is appropriate. I am also aware of
the fact that not too many people go elsewhere to find out information on this website.
Placing this thread here to be seen then, would make sense!
I did'nt hear the song because I did'nt watch the show. But....
Perhaps he does know something about our situation. I don't know him...
I'm pretty sure that Hall would have informed him of our plight and perhaps there was method
to his using this song for some awareness....ya have to "get your foot in the door"
before you can walk thru it!
Maybe he saw some of our own lyrics around here a few months back and decided to make an inroad!
I'll ask him next time I see him instead of accusing him of being heartless or mindless.
