MY DAUGHTER IS TERRIBLY ILL, VIOLENT VOMITING FOR HOURS.
CAN IT BE HERXS OR IS IT JUST BAD FLU? SHE IS ONLY ON 200 MG DOXICYCLINE 7 - 10 DAYS.
IF IT IS HERXS RECTION, DOES SHE NEED MEDICAL HELP OR JUST GET THROUGH IT?
THANKS -
NICOLES MOM

Hey Nicole's Mom,
I am so sorry that your precious one is suffering so.
I don't think that any one of us can say for certain what the problem with Nicole is...but that sort of vomiting, 'violent vomiting', does NOT sound like a herx to me.
If it were up to me, I would try to reach her physician immediately. And if he/she could not be reached, I would consider taking her into an urgent care center.
Yes, it could be a flu, or stomach poisoning, etc. But, I think for my peace of mind, I would want to have her checked over.
She may need fluids if this has been going on for so long. Is she running a fever or exhibiting any other new issues? Is there blood in the vomit?
Good luck, and keep us posted on Nicole, OK?
My best, Melanie

Above is a quick read on the Herx reaction. You can find more information by doing a search.
Basically, it is a temporary onset of new symptoms or an intensifying of existing symptoms.

Yikes! Violent throwing up can easily lead to dehydration.
It doesn't matter if it is the stomach flu or Lyme.....
Please get her to a doctor asap.
I am sure she can't keep the doxy down....but I would stop it until I knew
What was going on.
I had a violent stomach flu last summer.
I know my pressure dropped in the 50's/30's.
It really set me back.
Hugs,
Geneal

Has she been on doxy long or just a short while. That might be a clue if it is the doxy affecting her stomach. Doxy can be very rough on the tummy & she might need different abx.

Nicole is better. Seems to have been the flu or something. Thanks all for your reassurance.
