Does everyone take mepron 3wks. on and one week off? What happens if you take it straight through with no breaks? Thanks

A number of doctors are moving to that schedule due, in part to, the herx factor.

Bad herxing is not a good thing.

Also gives the body a chance to clear toxins.

If that is your schedule.. please be HAPPY!!!

The other way stinks!

I just started mepron on the same protocol.

I am kind of looking forward to a break from the yellow gook.

Hope someone else has some answers for you.

Hugs,

Geneal

I have never gotten a break at the 3 week mark, with either of my doctors that have prescribed it. In fact, when I did try to go off of it prematurely, symptoms returned quickly. I am afraid I was building resistance to it by trying to go off of it before I was ready.

I have been on for about 7 months straight now.

I wish I could go off at 3 weeks just to reboot my brain! But the brain symptoms have gotten much better with time so I think it is working.

Good luck.

I wonder if the logic behind the break is not to trick the protozoans into thinking "we've stopped" and then zapping them again after a break of a week. Ask your doc why the break; he will tell you the current thinking.

When I first took in 2004, I took it 7 months straight with no breaks and I got better. I don't recall herxing on Mepron, it was the zithromax that nailed me!!! [Frown]

After that initial time I relapsed and went back on Mepron and zith for an additional 4 months straight, and did much better the 2nd time.

However, I hate to tell you this, but when I was re-tested after the 2nd time, my Igenex test was still posistive for B. microti......so another 6 months - this time with Malarone and Ketek (which was a good drug for me; I had no probs)

Best of luck on your Babs journey!!!!!!! [group hug]

Gail

Hi All -

I do Not think Babs meds should be pulsed -

Even short breaks -1 day -- can cause bad effects --

I considered the idea of taking a break form meds
to let the bugs come out of hiding and then zap them--

Threw my treatment I have had to stop taking
mepron because of supply problems --

EVERY Time I stopped meds for even one or 2
days I would relapse and Loose Much progress -
Months of progress - poof gone --

The closest I have come to Dying threw this
whole treatment was the first time
I had to stop Mepron --

I thought I was going to Die any second -
ALL of my symptoms SPIKED in 2 days --
Lasted 2 weeks till I got more meds -

Several times I thought I had died -
and it would have been OK with me --
It was that scary --

I am NEVER going to put myself threw
that again -EVER --

I was to sick to do it --
but I thought about robbing a pharmacy
to keep myself from dying -

Babs in not just Any bug --
its a Super Bug and HAS to be treated
as such --

Do your self a favor and take your
BABS meds Every day -- Jay --
