First off, I have documented and clearly established problems with yeast. Been seeing an internal doc for some time now who has been trying to help me with that. I'm now on a (self imposed) ultra strict diet and I'm taking enterically coated oregano oil caps to kill the yeast. It's working, I can see and feel it.
Problem is...... over the past several weeks I've developed these terribly itchy, burning eyes... the condition is almost ever-present. At night they often seep and I generally wake up with crust and blurry vision.
I've been off of abx for lyme and bart for over 1.5 years now.... my health is far better than it once was but I'm obviously not back to "normal" and for the past 1.5 years I've attributed that to the stubborn and powerful yeast problems that I know I have.
In doing some searching here on the boards I've come across numerous posts stating that lyme/bartonella can lead to the same kind of eye problems that I'm experiencing. So, now I'm wondering - has the LD/bart resurfaced as a problem (along with the yeast continuing to bother me)?? I'm scared to take antibiotics again because of what happened to my body as a result of the nearly two years of oral abx I took. I also have read on numerous web sites that the candida problem itself can contribute to eye itchiness and redness.... and without a doubt it must because if I eat anything high carb or sugary my eyes almost immediately get even worse.
this is all so confusing and depressing.

I'm dealing with that right now, too.
You might try some sort of liquid tears, preservative-free, if you can. See if that helps.
This happens to many people as they get older, but my problem began in my 20's - on and off over time. Now, at 55, I can barely open my eyes for more than 20 minutes. So I finally saw eye doctor last week. I learned a lot.
So, I'd advise getting to your eye doctor soon. they can look at your eyes and determine if the outer layer is okay. If it is not, it is vital to attend to that.
The problem is that not many eye doctors know about lyme, still, you MUST have an eye expert's opinion as to what they see - and then go from there regarding the cause and how best to treat it.
You have to protect the eyes with a good layer of tears. Even though I have tears, they apparently don't have the ingredients they should. Sjogren's syndrome was dx long ago, and again last week. I know it can be a label, just at FM, and, with lyme, it's far more entailed.
Sometimes certain foods or a dry winter, looking at a computer, etc. can dry eyes out more. For women, menopause, too.
Using only natural household products and limit any chemical exposures can help.
I'm looking into Vitamin A eye drops from a compounding pharmacy, too. I think you need an Rx for it, though. . . but, first, a dx from your eye doctor as to cause.
FISH OIL, too. even my eye doctor told me that. He said two, twice a day of Nordic Naturals. Vitamin E must also be taken, with higher amounts like that (my ND says that).
EYEBOB here may come along and offer some suggestions. He's in the field and has done a lot of research on this.

My vision is not really blurry other than when I first wake up and I need to get that junk out of my eyes!!! I have taken diflucan (a LOT of it) over several courses - some as long as 2-3 months at a time. It never really seemed to help me very much. I see more effect from the oregano oil caps.

Since when does menopause cause dry eyes?
Here we go again, blaming those hormones for everything.
My eyes were dry before menopause, after menopause, and even once I reversed it. It's not menopause - it's infection. If the tear ducts are clogged with infection, no more tears. Period.
Please stop adding fuel to the fire that every symptom imaginable is the result of a woman's dwindling hormone levels. Women have bought the notion, and maybe they cling to it because they need to be referring to their friend until death, even as indirectly as menopause allows.
Sorry, but I won't stand back silently any longer perpetuating this myth.
Menopause causes absence of periods.
Menopause causes sweats.
But so does infection.
And guess what? In my case, infection caused menopause, so hmmm???

I think it is yeast I have bearning eyes when my yeast problem is bad (after I eat sugar - bad bad)
I am going to try those oil of oregeno capsules my yeast is just out of control but diaflucan makes my hair fall out!!!
