I've taken proteolytic enzymes for 6 days, and am amazed at how much improvement they bring : hours afterward of much lesss or hardly any symptoms, maybe 4 or even 12 hours afterward of much lighter symptoms.

I'm taking Jarrow Flexzymes, 300 mg on empty stomach, 1 pill per day. I think that's proteolytic enzymes,; it includes serrapeptase.

And this was at a time, on 3 antibiotics plus herbals, when i wasn't seeing improvement and felt worse.

I think i heard that they dissolve the L-form CWD form of lyme --- is that right? How can they cause such a very great improvement, not a herx at all, just a removal of symptoms, head feels much lighter and freer. What are they doing?

Proteolytic enzymes or proteases are enzymes that digest protein.

Serrapeptase (Serratia peptidase) is one of them so yes, you are taking proteolytic enzymes.

I've been taking serrapeptase 2X per day and a variety of other enzymes on an empty stomach since I started treatment almost 2 years ago.

I recently had to go off for a parasite test and after a few days I started to have a LOT of allergy symptoms, headaches, inflammation etc.. A week later I still have more inflammation and a headache everyday. [Frown]

My understanding is that these enzymes eat dead bug debri and dead bug debri is the cause of many of our symptoms so I'm not suprised that you notice a difference. It helps all the things I mentioned above and more.

Glad you found it. I wouldn't be without them. They are useful also for anyone who has leaky gut in that they eat the allergens that escape in the form of large molecules from you gut. The large molecules cause allergy symptoms and allergies to food.

Hadn't heard that. I know that you can use cellulase enzymes to break down the cell wall and thus kill candida so I guess it's not unthinkable that enzymes may help to kill other things as well.

Hello to all---

Jarrow brand "Flexzymes" i buy from iherb.com.

How do Nattokinase and proteolytic enzymes compare? They're completely different, for me.

I've been taking high doses of Nattokinase 4 or 5 times a day for a year and a half, to prevent hypercoagulation symptoms that i get if i try to lower the dose. I use Nattokinase to, hopefully, prevent a bloodclot, since i have 2 genes for bloodclots. The symptoms it prevents are: little random spot pains in the lower legs, and lung and nasal congestion.

I never noticed that Nattokinase affected my lyme symptoms at all; although theoretically it should, since it is fibrinolytic, and i read second-hand that Dr K says lyme spirochetes (and cysts??) have fibrin coats, if that's true.

Proteolytic enzymes are as i just described above, they give me about 12 hours of about 98% relief from lyme head-grogginess, i think, with some attacks of wooziness i guess, but the head still feels lighter and emptier.

Thanks, i'm glad they keep working long-term! I didn't know what they were doing.

Here is a product I found at Swanson's. Has anybody tried it? It is less than three dollars!

their ad says:

Enhances the ability of mucus to drain easily

A proteolytic enzyme

Keeps joints comfortable and mobile

Swanson Ultra High Potency Serrazimes is a proteolytic enzyme (a substance that promotes the breakdown of protein) that assists joint, circulatory, respiratory, and immune health.

It was designed as an alternative for serrapeptidase, a product initially isolated from a bacteria found in the gut of the Japanese silkworm.

Serrazimes has the same fibrinolytic activity in vitro as serrapeptidase supplements.

-----
it claims to deliver 20,000 fibrinolytic units.

anybody know if it's effective???

Hello--- It seems to be removed from iherb.com. If you Google it, you'll find dozens of companies that sell it, e.g.,Amazon. Be sure to enter Amazon from the Lymenet site so that Lymenet will get a commission.

Pamo,

It is removed from the i-herb site because Jarrow
is no longer manufacturing it. Jarrow has also removed it from their site. Just wanted to let you know so you can buy more before it is no longer available.

I looked at the contents. It seems that Vitalzyme has most of the same components.

This was the most cost-effective protolytic enzyme formula I could find, when I was searching. There was another formula, Neprinol, that I have also used.

Bromelain, in both Vitalzym and the Jarrow formula, has anti-inflamatory properties--it is used for joint pain--and has unknown effects on the immune system. These are in addition to its effect as a digestive enzyme.

These enzymes work systemically if you take them on an empty stomach, but digetst your food if you have any for them to work on.

Best,

Cass A
