Hi Gang,

I'm currently taking 600mg/day of Rifampin and 1,500mg/day of Tetracycline, which I've been doing for a few weeks now.

At this time, the symptoms I'm having, which have recently surfaced and are bothering me the most, are really bad headaches and nausea.

I know I'm, most likely, just suffering from herxing and/or drug side effects, thus I can always reduce my dosages of them, but I'd really like to try to stick it out for a while, if at all possible.

Prescription pain and nausea medications help me some, but not completely, plus I really don't like the side effects of them either, thus I'm looking for some other ways to get some well-needed relief.

Does anyone here have any suggestions about some things I can do to try to ease them up some?

Thanks! [Smile]

Love, Light, & Health,
Jennie

nausea: ginger (you can use this from your cooking spices for tea)

headaches: magnesium & lots of water (if your tummy can do it . . . warm water is best)

cover eyes to rest and sleep . . . so not too much ginger late in the day as it can be stimulating for some folks.

Good luck.

Hi Keebler,

Thanks for the helpful suggestions!

I drank some warm tea with ginger and it worked great for my nausea, although it didn't seem too stimulating to me, but maybe I just didn't use enough of it.

I already take magnesium, so I increased my dosage a little bit, but it didn't seem to help my headache very much.

Staying in bed resting and/or sleeping with my eyes covered helped me the most, although it certainly didn't seem to help me get anything done, which I certainly needed to. [Smile]

I'm feeling a lot better now though! Thanks for helping me get through a rough patch!

Love, Light, & Health,
Jennie

Hey Jennie, I have come to realize my headaches came from inflammation? Surprise, surprise?

I take 600 mg of Ibuprofen. Inflammation in my head seems to be gone with the hour. Now there are different type headaches we can have with this illness.

Sometimes my headaches are caused by toxins. If my body is over loaded with toxic stuff, I feel it elsewhere in my body and my head.

That's when I turn to more and more good water, detox baths and chlorella to help my body detox my head too. It takes a lot of work to get the body detoxing up to the head.

Detoxing stuff and helping the head might take more time, such in a few hours or so. It's all according to how toxic you are and how much your body is going to release some toxins?

I hope that helps.

Pam

I don't know how to describe my two different headaches to tell others which headache they have.

I've just learned much on trail and error myself.
I've learned to listen to my body and read what it needs.

That's not voodoo, that's just fact. Experience is not always a good thing!!!!!! Believe me!!!

If my body or any part of my body is screaming at me, I listen. I don't suffer as much that way. lol

Sometimes I can control....sometimes the bad guys (lyme & company) are in control. We don't get along very well. We tend to tick each other off.

Hi Pam,

It's hard for me to describe exactly how I feel sometimes too, especially to the point where others can really understand.

I've learned to listen to my body and do what it tells me I need to do also, which often tends to lessen my suffering as well.

I don't always get along with my infections either.

Some days I'm the windshield and others I'm the bug. LOL!

Love, Light, & Health,
Jennie

Hi Jennie, some people get headache relief from a diuretic.

I have always found peppermint to help with nausea. If sugar isn't a problem for you, maybe some peppermint lifesavers or altoids would help.

Theres also peppermint herbal tea.

I got some peppermint extract in the spice isle at the grocery store, and add a few drops to plain warm water. No caffine in this.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Hshbmom,

Thanks for the tip!

Is that prescription or over-the counter?

What are some good kinds?

I'm on Rifampin + minocycline, I get headaches and ear pressure and sometimes vertigo and was getting nausea but that's eased up.

Headaches & vertigo seem to be ear-related for me - I take sudafed and within an hour I feel alot better. Also my LLMD has me take meclazine as needed (over the counter motion sickness meds -- Bonnine is one brand) and that knocks the vertigo and nausea back.

Good luck Jennie. This combo is tough!

My daughters LLMD stressed over and over that Herxing is not good for you and you need to back off or stop the meds when you herx.

In his printed material and verbally he stressed that over the course of managing hundreds of herx's,

he has found that those who try to stick with the meds through a herx

actually do worse in the long run than those who stop meds until herx passes.

He said this is counter-intuitive,

people think "if I'm herxing it is working and I don't want to loose time on the meds".

But he said a herx is a sign your body is being damaged by too much toxin.

He said herx means

STOP OR LOOSE GROUND YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE UP!

Hi Dancer,

Sorry to hear you're feeling bad!

Glad to hear you've found some meds to help you feel better though!

I'll be sure to ask my LLMD if I can take them to possibly help me too.

Thanks for mentioning them to me!

Thanks for the good luck wish!

Good luck to you too!

You're so right about it being a tough combination to take!

Just hang in there with me! [Smile]

Jennie

Hi Nicoles Mom,

Thanks for the reminder!

My LLMD feels the same way (perhaps we have the same one?).

It's a warning I certainly heed, if necessary!
