I'm posting this because I have a sincere desire to help anyone who is caught in this horrendous Lyme war.

Our son has been on the Buhner protocol (Andrographis, Resverotrol and Cats Claw) for 4 weeks. He's up to the full dose recommended in Buhner's book.

When we started this regimen he was home-bound and had been since before thanksgiving. He is now back at school and attending wrestling practice. He also recently picked up strep throat, had a fever, went on antibiotics and recovered completely from the strep. He hasn't had a fever in two years - most Lymies know the drill there.

Our son also had 4 rife treatments in a four week period in Nov. and Dec..

I should note that he never tested positive for co-infections.

I have NOOOO idea if this would work the same way for others. I think because he is young and otherwise healthy, he doesn't have other mitigating factors. Maybe this is why this is working for him?

We have been fighting this battle for five years. We've achieved similar success on antibiotics perscribed by an LLMD, but that success is always temporary. This could be temporary also, only time will tell.

However, if he does have long-term success and we do get back to the business of normal living, I promise I will come back and report that fact.

I am not against antibiotics at all. We had every intention of adding them to our son's program again, but if we don't have to we will be pleased.

Our only goal is to pass along helpful information. My heart is deeply troubled for everyone facing this monster disease.

Wonderful news! are those the only 3 things he is taking now in Buhner's protocol?

Yes, he is only taking those three herbs. Otherwise, he takes magnesium, vitamin C, multi and probiotic.

As for the rife, he rifed four times in four weeks. We noticed him getting progressively worse with these treatments. Now I think he was experiencing some massive herx reactions (probably too much for him).

We're going to add the rife back in now that he's back to good health. However, this time we're going to space the treatments out further.

It's also intersting to note that he never herxed on antibiotics.

One theory on the rife is that it will make you feel terrible for quite a long time, but in the end the bacteria is killed off and not just converted to a dormant form - waiting for another day.

Maybe this is the case with our son? Antibiotics have always made him feel much better, but everything always comes back with a vengence.

Like I said, only time will tell. I will most certainly report back when/if he hits months/years of recovery.

I also will report back if he relapses - of course, we know this is probable.

I was rifing every 2 weeks for 2 months and i felt like i was in one big herx the whole time.

i wouldn't do it every week, space it out more for him.

i waited to rife my last time an additional 2 weeks because i just couldn't take it. I also did less time and have not herxed yet (it was thursday night).

i am still on abx-treating babesia now, which may affect the rifing as well....

hope your son continues to feel better, please keep us posted.
