Rifampin is giving me the worst insomnia. I want so much to stay on this drug but the insomnia is killing me.

Every night, I sleep for a few hours, wake up, and can't go back to sleep. Sometimes if I take a Flexiril at that point I can sleep for a few more hours.

This has been going on every single night since the first day I took Rifampin. It started on 1 pill/day, which I did for the first five days or so before increasing to 2/day, so cutting back won't help.

My sleep has finally gotten better after years and years of being horrid.

Is this drug known to cause severe insomnia and, if so, is it transient? It is a bart symptom? If I don't sleep soon, I'm going to lose my mind.

Alot of people report insomnia on Rifampin. I felt like it made mine worse initially and about 4 weeks in, it improved. I was taking alot of xanax at 2 am, looking back on my logs.
Hope it gets better.

Hmm, I've had some of the best night's sleep while on Rifamp. Must be an exception, but no complaints, other than turning orange. [Big Grin]

I was on Rifampin (just got off) and I didn't have a problem with insomnia.

Hope you get some well deserved sleep soon! [group hug]

Yeah, I have it. My LLMD says it's a pretty well known side effect. I take Lyrica before bed to sleep but I still get rather poor, intermittent sleep.
