I want to cry. Every once in a while I can cry maybe one single tear or my eyes glass over, but that's it - and usually I have to get angry first now. It feels like there's more in there, but it won't come out.
I'm not going to get better until I can cry toxins out. It's even worse because I smelled perfume yesterday for a few hours.

Huh. And I thought I was the only one. I sort of feel like an emotional zombie. I have even been known to watch a "tearjerker" to try to provoke tears - no luck. I get angry, sad, suffer pain, and still no tears. I get the choked up feeling, but no tears.
Is this just another lyme thing?

I have this too - I'm an emotional Zombie and I didn't cry since years.
I thought I couldn't cry anymore but last Saturday I read such a heartbreaking story which affected me kind of personally and suddenly the tears poured out of me. Hubbby was bewildered - he never saw me like this.
But it really takes a lot now compared to my past when I was crying in front of the TV set at every opportunity.

Though I know some will frown on this... my suggestion is to try to find an acupuncture school that has a clinic. Often the fee is extremely low... and the students have to have their supervisors approve treatment plans before they treat.
I had a lot of success with this many years ago when I was very ill with CFS and on a strict budget. It really helped to open things up energetically, and even changed the way I viewed life. Definitely brought me out of a semi-numb state that I could fall into.
T'ai chi and/or yoga could be helpful also, if there is enough energy for this.
Water is a good idea, because it can help increase flow... anything to get things to move inside.

Tailz, I'll lend you my daughter for about 6 mths. All you have to do is pretend she is your daughter and handle her situations. Oh yeah, let me mention that there is two young grandchildren, 4 & 7.
Don't worry they are great kids. The oldest is displaying some lyme & company sx since May 07 and an illness. The father of these children is trying very hard. He is the provider and care giver during the week. But he needs you to help with childcare for the oldest after school.
I've cried many times in the last year. It doesn't help me detox that much. You just need to find another way to detox. Tears come from hard times. I don't wish hard times on you. I also wouldn't let someone else take on my burdens.
I will find a way to take care of all of this.
Tailz, I hope you are feeling more hopeful these days. Feeling hopeless is very hard on our immune system. It's called stress. Life sucks sometimes.
People suck sometimes. And yes, even our medical support system sucks sometimes. Fight for you and fight for better days ahead.

Hi Tailz, In the beginning of my illness, I cried all the time, sometimes for hours until my face swelled up. I cried without knowing the reason, and my emotions did not fit with the tears coming out of my eyes.
Now, after 22 yrs. of this crud, I can't cry anymore either. Even the deaths of people close to me do not elicit so much as one tear. Like you, I wish I could cry, but I am all cried out.
The ony exception is animal abuse. I am a huge animal lover, and there is an ad on TV right now about shelter dogs that makes me bawl my eyes out for ten minutes after I see it, so I change the channel right away if it comes on. That is not the kind of crying I want, since it also causes an increase in my anger towards the humans who cause the problem.
I am doing some educated guessing here, but I think this problem is related to the "cortisol freeze" problem so many of us have. Our adrenals are fried from the stress of this illness, and from Bb using up our cholesterol, so we often don't have enough left to make enough hormones.
I cannot do a lot of the adrenal tx's because I am one of the odd Lymies who has high blood pressure, but I do what I can.
I would suggest aggresive adrenal tx with B complex with high levels of B5, licorice tea, glandular extract, a strict sleep schedule, etc. to see if that will help you. If you have high blood pressure, do not take licorice or glandulars. Acupuncture helps a lot for adrenals.

My daughter has the same issue. She wants to cry, but can't. She also has very dry eyes.
She drinks near 2gal water a day. Moisture isn't a problem.

I'm an emotional zombie too. Had it for years. I don't feel anything. Not sorrow, not joy, not hunger or fullness, tiredness or feelings of being awake. I feel absolutely nothing.
I have seen these problems attributed to bartonella. I don't remember if was in a schaller or burrascano article. But it was one of them. The latter I think.

I don't think it's a moisture problem, although my eyes are dry. Drinking fluids doesn't seem to help increase tears though. I cannot even wear my contact lenses any more.
I think mine is more of a carrier wave problem. I want to cry, but the nerves that signal the release of tears do not work. To make matters worse, I must become angry first in order to release any tears whatsover, and then after a couple of tears - nothing - it all comes to a screeching halt.
I honestly think my sad nerves died off, and now the emotion must travel through angry nerves in order for me to get any relief, even minimal tears. I think my doctors did this to me.

In the case of my brother in law, he has no production of tears (zero level on Schirmer test) thanks to levaquin.
The Schirmer tests consists of a strip of absorbent paper that they place inside your eyelid for 5 minutes. They measure the length of paper moistured.

A doctor did that test on me several years ago and my right eye was slightly abnormal. I got worse right after though, and he didn't know what caused it.
My eyes are consistently dry though. It's not all about moisture though - it's the signals for tear flow that aren't strong enough.
