I just finished my second month of this protocol and am confused because I have heard so many mixed opinions.
How long did it take to see improvement? For me it has been like a rollercoaster. Thanks!

I'm about the same as you amk. I think it just takes time with herbal protocols. Some people take the abx for years... I'd rather be a little patient & see how it goes.
I've been ill for almost 11 years. It's going to take time - if it ever goes away.

I hear you but are you worse than when you started it and how long are you giving it? Thanks!

I went off abx (but stayed on anti-malarials). I had bart symptom return but do not feel like the Lyme did. My LLMD put me back on Mino and Levaquin ..... the PA was of the opinion that it was a problem with the bart and lyme.
She did not want me to get worse. I had symptoms return that I hadn't had in a while.
So, though the progress may be slower, I don't think you should backslide on the herbs.
I still like the Cowden protocol and am still on it. In some ways, I saw improvement. It is good for detox and adrenal support. I also think I'll use it for maintenance when I finally get off abx.
I believe it would work for some for Lyme because, as I mentioned, it was the bart/babs that was my ongoing problem.

I started on just a few herbs as my doctor was not familiar with the protocol. He felt that I should do a limited version & he would suggest other supplements to take.
After I found the offer for the protocol for free for 6 months, I nagged my doctor to order it for me.
My doctor never pushed me to take antibiotics. He said that they don't always work for people. I did do about 8 months worth of abx but I didn't want to continue for a few reasons.
One is that I didn't want to wreck my immune system.
So far, I just started the "full" Cowden protocol about 10 days ago. I was able to get my doctor to order it for free for 6 months from Nutramedix with their offer.
I believe that Cowden suggests to stay on the protocol for 1 year.
I'm really happy with the way the protocol is set up. I think it's alot better to do the whole thing & not do the limited version.
They give you a schedule with all the dosages & times of day to take the herbs. Since there are a bunch of different herbs & supplements, it makes it much easier.
The herbs may also work synergistically. A good herbal program is set up so that it works this way.
I don't have anything against the other herbal protocols but this one really makes the whole project alot easier.
I may try the other herbal protocols after - if I need further progress. It's always good to rotate the remedies but you do need to stick with a plan to make sure it does what it's supposed to do.
I have alot of faith in herbs & natural remedies. Throughout my life I was always able to cure myself by using herbs.
Somehow, they always worked better for me than drugs. I still depend on pain medicine to get me through the day but I feel very comfortable taking the herbs.
I had a bit of "purging" from my bowels yesterday but I think it was from the ENULA.
This may be a good thing so I'm not worried. I just reduced the dosage a bit. I don't think I have the co-infections.
My doctor asked me some health questions & he didn't feel that I had them based on my replies.
He said the the tests are not accurate, in any case.
If I had more money, I'd probably get more testing done but you don't really know if the results you are getting is accurate.
It's pretty much trial & error but I'd rather depend on herbs then abx for now.
I may decide to go back on the abx but I don't think an open ended course is a good idea - just based on gut instinct.
Hope this helps. I'll post again with my progress reports.
